A 78 is very close to a borderline B, which is not bad.
It won't necessarily affect your future that much, but since your C does play a part in your weighted and unweighted GPA, it's recommended that you try your best to get higher grades during your second semester to improve your GPA. (Note that colleges/universities look more at your unweighted GPA than your weighted one to see how you've done during your time in high school.)
Hope this helps and good luck! (:

I got a 78 in academic math for grade 10, I'm happy with the mark but some people think I should work harder and that this mark will screw my life up. Is it true this won't affect my future?

Roger: Well, virtually everything that you do could affect your future in some way, whether it’s grades or just what you ate for breakfast this morning. The fiber content of your cereal, for example, could affect whether you’re going to spend all afternoon constipated and squatting over the shitter. But even then, I suppose it’s still your choice whether you’ll grumble about it or whether you’ll use the opportunity to catch up on your Netflix queue.

Hi so I got a 71 on my exam and got a 72 in my class can you tell me what my grade was going into the exam? Thanks!

Roger: The answer depends on how much your exam is worth.

Ok so I have a 96.55 in my class and I got a %40 ON MY TEST! It is 10 percent of my grade how much will i go down?

ROOOOOOOOOOOOGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roger: It depends on how much of your coursework you’ve completed so far. For example, if your 96.55% overall grade represents 40% of your coursework, then you overall grade should drop to a 85.2%.

I have a 98% overall in English I got a 76% on a test that went in the 60% column of my grades. So far I have gotten 27 grades in that class. I would like to know what my overall is going to be.

Roger: The answer depends on (1) how many tests you’ve taken so far, (2) your current test average, and (3) whether you have any empty categories in your grade, like a “participation” or “final exam” category that has no score yet.

I got a 79.8 on my midterm including cpt. I want something higher than an 82 on my final. My exam is worth 20 percent of my mark and I got an 86 on the exam. Did I get at least 82 or higher

Roger: What’s your current overall grade? If your current overall grade is a 79.8%, then your overall grade should go up to a 81.0% after your exam is included.

If I have a 70 in term 2 and I did my mid term exam and it was worth 20% of my term grade and I got 40% on that midterm, what will my grade be for term 2?

Roger: Assuming that you have no more assignments in term 2, your overall grade should be a 64%.

I have another question. Right now I have all A's and B's and I'm trying to get all A's for this 3rd quarter. I have an 80 in my ELA class right now and that's my only B. I have 4 assignments and 1 test. I'm trying to bring my grade up to a 90 or a 91 so that I will have an A in that class. What will I have to get on those assignments and that test for my grade to go up at least 10 or 11 points??

Roger: How much are your assignments and tests worth? What grades did you receive on your 4 assignments and 1 test? How many more assignments and tests will you have? Do you have any other categories in your grade?

In my science class, yesterday I had a 98 as my quarter 3 grade. Today I took a test and I got a 70 on it. Now my grade is a 91. Why did it go so far down?? Is it because a test grade is worth a lot??

Roger: Probably?

Hi Lauryn
Tue, 07 Feb 2017 21:55:43 GMT

You got full points on the writing section, which was 30% of your test grade, so there is 30%
You got 70/100 on your multi choice, which was 70% of your grade, so for that part you got 70x.7= 49%
There are only those two parts on your test, so your overall test grade is 30%+49%, and that is 79%.

Lauryn

Hi there, so in my Chemistry class, my teacher gave us a test of two parts: multiple choice and written.
The multiple choice is worth 70% of the 100 total.
The written is worth 30% of the 100 total.

On the multiple choice I made a 70 and on the written I got a 100.
Would you be able to tell me my final test grade, and explain how it is done?

Roger: You can calculate your test grade by multiplying 70% × 70% + 30% × 100%. When using a calculator, remember to convert the percentages into decimals first (by dividing by 100). In other words, your grade is 0.70 × 0.70 + 0.30 × 1.00 = 0.79 (e.g. 79%).

Hi sorry, you may calculate my current grade, but it's currently a 98. You can disregard the test part of the comment, but say if I were to have 2 test so far and they average out to be a 77.5% and still worth 24% of my total grade. What would my grade be? My exam is 25%. I want to pass the class with a 93%. How would I do this?

Roger: Well, if you’ve already taken 2 tests, then your overall grade should no longer be a 98%. Did you mean that your tests are worth 24% altogether? Or are they worth 24% each? If you have 2 tests worth 24% each and your average test grade is a 77.5%, then your overall grade should be a 84.9%.

Hi, I've had a total of 10 homework assignments worth 15% (All 100). 2 Projects worth 12% (98 and 93). I was wondering what grade I would receive if I were to have a 75% on a test worth 24%?

Roger: That only adds up to 51%. I’ll assume that the remaining 49% has no grade assigned to it yet. In that case, your current overall grade should be a 98%. If you get a 75% on your test, that should bring your grade down to a 87.2%.

I failed my english test with a 50%. Test grades are 50% of our grade what will I need to score on the next test to pass the class with a 70 if my current grade is a 66

Roger: How many tests have you taken so far? What’s your current test average? And do you have any empty categories in your grade?

Hi roger, I have a 11 out of 100 in math. if i get a 100 on my test that is worth 12 percent of my grade will i pass with a 98? i know this because 100 times 2 is 120, and 1plus 1 is 2 and 3 times three is five.

My chemistry test is worth 28 points, they are weighed about 50% of our grade. I have a 67.7% and I want at the least a B. The add-ons (there were 3 add-ons) were about 3 points each and I did all the of them. How many questions would I have to get correct in order to receive a B?

Roger: How many tests have you taken so far? Is each test worth the same fraction of your tests category? What’s your current test average? How much are your add-ons worth? Are there any other categories in your grade?
