i have an 80 in the class. categories are minor, majors, and homework. majors are worth 60% of our grade. minors and homework, 40%. i just made a 30 on a major. i have 23 total assignments in the class. what is my new grade???

Roger: The answer depends on your current average in your “majors” category and whether or not each of your “majors” is worth the same fraction of the 60% “majors” category. Assuming your average “majors” score is 80% and each of your 23 “majors” assignments is worth one twenty-third of 60%, your overall grade should go down to a 78.7%.

Rodger,
I hate parent teacher confences. I don't know why. I use this site a lot to help me with my grades, so thanks. Last year at the end of the year, I had a 4.0 gpa. No joke. Just wanted to brag like everyone else. I'm sorry. Have a nice evening. 😊😊

I got a 64% on a test and I get 1/3 of the grade back when I do corrections what is my new grade?

Roger: Well, if you scored 64% on a test, then you got 36% wrong. A third of 36% is 12%. So, your new grade should be 76%. Is that what you meant?

I got an 80 on a test worth 40% of my grade but that only took off one point of my average. Any reasons? (I went from a 93 to a 91.56)

Roger: Maybe your test average was fairly low already, so score an 80% on another test didn’t bring down your test average very much.

if i have an 88% and then get a 40 out of 40 what will my grade be.

Roger: The answer depends on how many points you have total.

I need help my grade is a 94% and my tests count as 20% of my grade if I got F's on assignments and they count as 20% of my grade what would my grade be if that happened

Roger: What are the other categories in your grade? Does your “94%” overall grade include any other scores in your “tests” or “assignments” categories? Does your “F” grade count as 0%? Or perhaps 50%?

I have a 75 in my math class and I am retaking a test that is worth 50% of my grade what would I need to get on my test to bring my grade to an 80?

Roger: What did you score on the test the first time? How many other tests have you taken already? And what did you score on them? Finally, do you have any empty categories in your grade? (For example, a “participation” category that has no score yet.)

I forgot to ask what I would need to get on the remaining tests/assignments to have a C- (70%) overall in the course. Thanks

Roger: I’ll answer your question below.

Buttercup
Wed, 18 Oct 2017 13:35:29 GMT

My class is made up of 500 points total. 400 points are made up of 4 exams. 50 points are quizzes/HW/participation. The quizzes have extra credit built in. For example we can get a 5/2 on a quiz. The last 50 points is a writing assignment. We are taking our second exam today. All 4 exams are worth 20% each.

So far for tests my grade is a 47/100
Quizzes/HW: 18/19
The writing assigment hasn't happened yet.

Roger: Well, 70% of 500 is 350 points. So, you’ll need to average at least 285/381 (74.8%) on your remaining exams, quizzes, homework, participation, and writing assignment to raise your overall grade to a 70.0%.

Hi roger,
I have an 86.65 in math I have had to tests an 95 and 77, we have exams and we take a test that is worth two test grades the test grades are worth 60% I want at least a 90 what do I need to get

Roger: Assuming you have no empty categories in your grade, you’ll need to score at least a 97.2% on your next test, which is worth two test grades, to raise your overall grade to a 90%.

Hello, I'm haley I have 98% in my social studies class. I just got my essay back and I got 66%. What grade would I get it decreasing?

Roger: Hi Haley. The answer depends on how much your essay is worth. Feel free to leave a follow-up if you have that information.

Hi Roger, thanks for this site!
I've got a Projects portion of my History class worth 15% of my overall History grade.
I only have two projects, 47% and 53%. I have a zero average because the first project (47% of 15%) is late, giving me a zero for now. My next project I have to take a zero for because I can't attend that day, giving me another zero until I can make them both up. My current History grade is 80%, which is including the first zero in my projects. If i get this next zero, what will my grade be? If it helps, I have 5 other categories: Tests: 35% with 100 average, Quiz 25% with 98 average, Homework 5% with 98 average, Essays, 15% with no assignments taken yet, and Participation 5% with no grade added yet. Thank you!

Roger: If you score 0 on your second project, your overall grade should not change, since your project average was already 0%. Also, it sounds like your overall grade should be a 80.5% according to your other categories, but I’ll assume you just rounded down to an 80.0%.

I have two parts of assignment, which worth 15%.
I have 95% in one part and I have 0 in the other one.
What's my total grade for that assignment

Roger: Well, the average of 95% and 0% is 47.5%. Is that what you were asking for?

Em

For example it says “you need ___ on your next 2 assignments” does that mean those 2 assignments combined or you need to get that on each

Roger: You’ll need to score that grade on each of your next 2 assignments.

My course is weighted 50% of the grade is 4 exams
10% on assignments
10% on quizzes
30% on labs

If say I failed all the exams but passed everything else would I still pass the class?

Roger: Maybe? The exact answer depends on how badly you fail your exams and the minimum overall grade you need to pass your class.

If I get a 75% on a Social studies class, and my grade before that is an A, would it be enough to bring down my grade to a B?

If i have a 95% in my class, and i get a 60% for a test that is 8.7% in the grade, What will my grade be?

Roger: It depends how much of your classwork you’ve completed so far. For example, if your “95%” overall grade represents 45% of your total coursework, then scoring a 60% on a test should bring your overall grade down to a 89.3%.

Anna
Tue, 17 Oct 2017 02:25:48 GMT

Hey Roger. I have a 87.99% in my first quarter of math. Each quarter is worth 40% (there's 2 quarters per semester) and my final is worth 20% to equal 100%. I would like my average of first and second quarter to equal a 92% or higher, before my final exam. What grade will I need to get in quarter 2 of math to achieve that? Thanks.

Roger: You’ll need to score at least a 96.01% on your 2nd quarter to have a 92.0% before your final exam. Good luck!

I got an 11/12 on a math worksheet, and it moved my grade down from a B-, to a C+. Do you know why?

Roger: What did you score on your previous worksheets? If your worksheet grade average were higher than 11/12, then your latest worksheet grade could have brought that average (and consequently, your overall grade) down.

Hi! I have an 86% in English, I forgot an assignment worth 60% of my grade, so I got I zero. Now what is my grade?

Roger: Is your assignment worth 60% of your grade by itself? Or is it part of a category that’s altogether worth 60% of your grade? If it’s the latter, what other assignments are in that category? And what are the other categories in your grade?

Hey so I have a 82.5 in my class currently. I really want an A in this class, but I am unsure if I can get one. My average for my assignments is a 100 with is 20% of my grade. My quiz average is an 85 and is 30% of my grade. My test average is a 74 (I have only taken one test) and it is 50% of my grade and I have one more test. What would I have to get on that test to get an A in that class.

Roger: You’ll need to score at least a 104.0% on your last test to raise your overall grade to a 90%.

Marisa

Ok so I have 82 in my world history class and I didn’t turn in a daily assignment which would be a 0 what would my grade be if daily assignments were 30% of my grade.

Roger: It depends on how many daily assignments you’ve done so far and what you scored on them. Also, do you have any empty categories in your grade? (For example, a “participation” category that has no score yet.)

Hi Roger,
My class grade is made up by the following:
3 in-class exams (100 points each)
1 final exam (200 points)
and a series of small quizzes (~100 points total)
=600 points total (no curve)

I got a 48 on my first 100 point exam, and so far I'm at about 75% on quizzes. is there any chance I can pass the class? I'm really trying to crack down and focus on the remainder of the assignments if there's a chance. thank you!

Roger: What’s the minimum overall grade you need to pass the class? Assuming you’ve completed a third of your quizzes so far, your overall grade should be about a 54%. If you average at least a 74% on your remaining quizzes and exams, you should be able to raise your overall grade to a 70%.

Exams - 3 exams and a comprehensive final - 75%

The final is weighted at 150% of the regular exams which are all weighted equally.

Class attendance – 10%

Homework – 15%

My exam grades are 91, 87, and 89. My homework Grade is a 76.875. I have missed 8 out of 32 classes

What do i need to get on the final to make an A in the class? What do i need on the final to make a B in the class? My professor gives you the option of dropping one exam. I must decide before taking the final exam. Should i drop one exam? If i drop an exam the final will still count 150% of the exams and exams will still count 75% of the final grade.

Roger: Your current overall grade is a 84.7%. You’ll need to score at least a 105.9% on your final to get a 90% overall. If you want a 80% overall instead, you’ll need to score at least a 65.9% on your final. You should only drop your lowest exam score (87%) if you think you can score higher than an 87% on your final. If you do decide to drop your lowest exam score, you’ll need to score at least a 100.8% or a 69.7% on your final exam to get a 90% or 80% overall respectively.

Me again. Darn my 95.56% average i wished I had 100%. If only I spent more time studying. Trust me I tried but my teacher won't give me the 20% I needed for my test, just because he taught I was cheating after recieving 98% on a very hard test, which only about 60% of the students passed. Also life has been hard, ever since I found out my girlfriend is cheating on me with my boyfriend. So I really need that 100% roger how can I get it?

Roger: Well, if you got 98% on your last test, then you should have no problem getting 100% on your next one.
