Is this site accurate? I am skeptical because I am nervous about my math final exam which is worth 40%. I do have a 96% but I still have hw, quizzes, and one test left before the final exam. I want to get a 90% but I more than anything just want to pass! I always bomb finals.

I'm still confused. If 20% was removed from my mark and then I got 100% on the exam, wouldnt the 100% be equivilent to the 20% lost, cancelling all the changesÉ
The É should be a question mark, my keyboard is being stupid, just like I assume I am being.
-----
Roger says: Hello again. Actually, 20% is not removed from your mark. If that were true, it would be impossible to have any higher than a 80% in any class with a 20% final. The final category is just ignored for the majority of the year because there is nothing in it.

I think I've noticed a problem with the calculations.
This program successfully removes the percentage, but doesn't add the exam mark correctly.Instead of adding the exam mark as a percentage, it adds it as an integer, completely changing the total mark.
Example: I got 54% for my final grade, and my exam was worth 20%, and I wanted 50%.
The program takes 20% from 54, leaving me with 43.2%, just like it should. Then it should add 80% of the 20%, which would be 16%. The problem occurs when the program adds the new percentage. Instead of adding 16% to arrive at 50.112%, it adds 16 and arrives at 59.2, completely incorrect. With this logic getting 100% on the test would earn me 63.2%, which doesn't make any sense. If I got 100% on the exam, I would have gotten 54% in total.
-----
Roger says: Thank you for trying to understand the calculations rather than simply taking them at face value. It is important to be skeptical and questioning.
Your conclusion is wrong. If you get a 100% on your final, you should indeed get a 63.2% on your overall score. Simply do this calcuation: 0.8*0.54 + 0.2*1.00. The result is 63.2%. If you reason it out, getting a 100% on a final worth 20% (which is one-fifth, quite a lot) should improve your grade significantly if it was originally as low as a 54%. An increase of 9% is very reasonable, and perfectly accurate. Let me know if you have any more concerns.

This website is great! Thanks for the though. Quick question though; I have a 74% average in this one class. My school takes over average from throughout the year, and makes it now worth 70% of what in the end will be my total mark. The other 30% is divide, 10% an assignment and the other 20 my exam. I missed my exam today and now have an ugly zero for 20%. However assuming i get at least a a 70% on the assignment worth 10%, id like to know am i going to pass in the end?

Roger says: (.74 * .7) + (.7 * .1) = 0.588 so you have a 58.8% right now.
