Hey so I've been trying to calculate the exact percentage I have in my class so far (everything is written in points and the syllabus says how much each section is worth of the final grade). The class in total is 500 points and the final is worth 130 points (30%), so we've only completed 350 points. I have 324.25/350 but I also have an extra 27 bonus points. I don't know how to factor these into my grade so far. I get over a 100% when I try to calculate it with the bonus points but like let's be real.

Roger: If you’ve only completed 350 points and your final is worth 130 points, what is the other 20 points made of? Your 27 bonus points should bring your grade up to a 100.4%, since you’re currently only missing 25.75 points, which is less than 27.

There are totally 600 points: 100 points from homework assignments, 200 from final and 300 from three tests. My course grade depends on how many points I can accumulate: A:540 or Better; B:539-480; C:479-420; D:419-360; and F:359 or Below. I got 60 in the first exam and 33 on the second. Right now i do not know how many points i have accumulated, can you tell me what i've to get on the third and final exam to pass the course with an A, B, and C grade?

In order to get an A (540/600), you’ll need to average at least a 115.7% on the 3rd test and final exam. In order to get a B (480/600), you’ll need to average at least a 95.7% on the 3rd test and final exam. In order to get a C (420/600), you’ll need to average at least a 75.7% on the 3rd test and final exam.

Okay, so I have 1243 points out of 1376 points on my PreCalc class. In my class, the teacher replaces the lowest test score, currently an 80/100 point test, with the grade you get on the final. Based on this, what percentage would I need on the final to get either an 89 or a 90 (She gives extra points for 6 bathroom passes, I haven't used any. The passes don't have a set extra credit pointage, but typically they bring an 89 up to a 90-92). Thanks!

I’ll also assume that you want to get either an 89% or a 90% before the extra credit is applied. In that case, your current grade is a 90.3%. You’ll need to get at least a 61.6% on the final to get a 89% overall. You’ll need to get at least a 75.4% on the final to get a 90% overall. Either way, both of those scores are lower than 80%, your current lowest test score. If your final is actually worth points by itself, then I need to know how many points it’s worth.

On my apush final i got a 55% (150/270 points) and it dropped me from a 77.6% to a 73%. (It doesn't say how much the final is worth) I then turned in some extra credit and it boosted my grade to a 76.3% My teacher is making all of us retake the final but he is going to average both scores. Roger: I think it’s most likely that your Final was worth 20% of your grade. In that case, your overall grade should be a 73.2% (which you probably rounded down to a 73%). Your final credit brought your grade up 3.1%. To figure out what you need to get on the makeup final, we can just treat your 55% grade as a 10% category in your grade and put the makeup final in yet another 10% category. Then, we reduce the target grade by 3.1%, to account for the extra credit. So, in order to get a 79% overall, you’ll need to get at least a 82.6% on the makeup final. In order to get an 80% overall, you’ll need at least a 92.6% on the makeup final.

I miss the sarcastic feedback :( They made me laugh when I was sad about how high I need to score. Maybe you can do like an option on the calculator that says something like "I have a sense of humor" and "I'm sensitive" so you would get different remarks depending on the option you pick. You will probably have to put it in nicer words though since people seem to be offended by an exclamation mark :/

Hey, the "sassy" comments are not discouraging and are actually really amusing. The playful banter doesn't offend anyone and those who are offended shouldn't be surprised they're doing so poorly in their classes. Adding a ! after a sorry isn't condescending either. Sorry! some people are butt-hurt and failing a class at the same time. sucks to suck.
