I don't get it, I have a 88.9 and my final is 15% of my grade, why do I need to get a 96 % on the final to raise my grade 1.1%.

Roger: Well, you are already too close to 100% that raising your grade even by 1.1% is very difficult.

Roger I'm freaking out here. I have a 65% and instead of a final its a 380 point project. I have no idea what percent of my grade it's worth but is there anyway you can tell me what i'll need to get a 70%?

Roger: Depends on how many points you have in the class already. If you don’t know what percent of the grade it is worth, there’s no way to tell.

Hi, I know u have the calculator but if I have a 69.03 in my class now and I need a 69.5 to pass, all my average grades are in except my presentation grade which is worth 7.5%, will I have a chance at passing.

Roger: It depends how you did on that presentation. You need about a 75% on it to pass.

Hi,
I got a 93% the 1st nine weeks, and a 89% on the second nine weeks, which both count for 40% of my final grade. My final is worth 20% of my grade and I want to have at least a 90%. Can you tell me what I need to make on my final?

Thank you so much Roger!!

Roger: Well, your overall grade would be a 91% then. Using the calculator [91, 90, 20] you see that you need an 86%.

What is wrong with you people? Stop posting comments asking telling what your grade and situation is and then asking what your grade will be, enter it in the calculator your damn selves.

my final exam is worth 20% of my exam. ill be unable to take it which means ill get a zero on it. if my grade in the class is a 83% what will my finl grade in the class be?

Roger: Like somebody said above, you’ll get a 66.4%.

We've had three tests, and two quizzes (one is worth 25 point and the other worth 30 points). My test average is a 97%, but that's because he'll always curve the tests.

Roger: So your non-Test average is a 95%. The most straightforward way of calculating what you need is a formula like this. You’ll see that you need a 80.35% to get a 93, or a 67.25% to get a 90.

Mon, 17 Dec 2012 07:14:09 GMT

1st 9 weeks- 81.63
2nd 9 weeks-80.344
1st 9 weeks = 40%
2nd 9 weeks = 40%
Exam = 20%
What do I need to make to get a 80 or above? Can I see work so I know how?

Roger: Sure thing. Your current average is a (81.63 + 80.344) / 2 = 80.987%. Stick that into the calculator with a 20% final worth and you get 76.05 as your answer.

I think it's really great that you're taking the time to reply to everyone's comment, and being so polite about some of the most ridiculous questions that could be answered simply by calculating their grades on the site by plugging in numbers into the boxes (LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO COUGH)

Anyways, I don't really have a question, just thought you'd need a break from reading all those nonsense questions! Happy holidays, and I hope your Christmas and New Years is filled with happiness and fun :)

Roger: Thanks! Happy holidays to you too!

I might as well try to ask, I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. My physics final is weighted three times as much as a test, and the tests are out of 100 points. So apparently the final is worth 300 points? Anyways, there is no separate category for the final, it's a part of the test category. Which is 50% of our grade. Can you tell me about how much this will affect my grade? Like is it worth 20%? Or yeah.. I'm sorry. (Or I guess if it would be easier, what would I need to get a 93% or a 90% in the class if I have 96% right now...)

Sorry to be a bother!

Roger: Well, it all depends on how many tests you’ve already had and what your test average is. Can you provide those?

Roger, I need a 79.03% on my final in a class that I have trouble scoring 40% on a test in. The stakes are high though, because I get a car if I pass all my classes. Half of me is telling me I'm gonna do awful, other half of me is telling me that the stakes are too high to just let myself get anything less than an 80%.

Am I gonna do it?

Roger: Looks like both halves of you are saying that you can’t do it. Now, make sure you ignore them both and pass the class anyway.

My chemistry grade is a 89. My final is just a 200 point test going in as a normal test grade . My average test grade is a 76.89. What do i need to get on my final to get at least a 89.5?? Please helppp

Roger: How much is your test category worth? That is very important.

Hey, this is a really awesome tool! I've always tried calculating my grades myself, but it never seems to work out. I have a question, though.

In my AP chemistry class, I have a 74.6%. The final is worth 10% of my total grade and I want to get atleast a 69.5%... I'm not sure if getting a 23.6% on my final sounds right, but you seem to be a lot smarter than me!

Greatly appreciated if you could answer my dilemma!

Roger: Yes, that is right. If it doesn’t sound right intuitively, think of the fact that you’ll be dropping a whole 5 percent if you manage to get your grade down to a 69.5%. That means that you would have done pretty badly on your final.

Roger, You are such a patient person... people some of you ask really stupid questions. Maybe there is a reason you are on a border of a C in a lot of your classes

Roger: Thanks.

If my final is worth 200 points, how much percent is that of my grade?

Roger: It depends how many total possible points are in your assignments right now. Let’s say you have 891/1000 = 89.1%, then you would add 200 to 1000 and get 1200 (the total number of points after the final), and see that 200/1200 = 1/6 = 16.67% (for example) is the weight of your final.

Thanks so much for posting this. I was really stressed until I found out I needed to get around a 60% on three of my finals to keep my A. I feel so much better. You are a life saver!

I have a current grade of 79.06...I want to get at least an 80%. The finals are worth 15 %, but consist of two parts total, the quarter exam and final exam. If my quarter exam is 71%, what is the lowest I need for a B? Is it still at least an 85.3%, or would it need to be higher to counter the 71%? Thanks

Roger: It would need to be significantly higher. Let’s assume the 2 parts of the exam are equal in weight. Then you would need a 85.3 + (85.3 - 71) = 99.6%. Good luck.

So I have a 73.49 in my class. My test are worth 90% of my grade and homework is 10%. My professor said that the final is 20% of my test scores. Is it possible to get a B in the class? I have a 71.77% in my test category and 90.89 in my homework.

Roger: Use (.7177*.72 + .9089*.1)/(.82) = 74.10% as your current grade and 18% as your final’s worth with the calculator.

I cam to see what I needed on my final to get an A in math, then saw the irony in that. But, I still like my chances (74%).

???
Sun, 16 Dec 2012 01:39:09 GMT

what if your teacher doesnt weigh?? o.O
nice site xD

Roger: Then, your weight would be equal to (# points possible on final)/(# current total possible points + # points possible on final).

Tj

A 64% for an 80 for a current grade of 82.69 seems improbable to me.
But then again, I'm the one with an almost-C in math.

Roger: That sounds about right. Remember that getting an 80 means dropping almost a whole 3% with just one test.

Roger, I have encountered a problem. :(
My final was Thursday and it was worth 70% of my grade. I had a 74% before the finals. I passed my final was an 87%, yet my final grade is a 77%... How is that possible ? I used your calculator and put 80% as the grade I wanted and it said I had to do better than an 82. something %. I would greatly appreciate your response. BTW: the calculator thinger kicks ass !

Roger: Are you sure your final was worth 70% and not 30%? I really don’t think it could be worth 70% of your grade. If it really was worth 70%, you should have gotten a B, so I suggest you double-check with your professor.

Roger, I have a 94.45 in my class, which is an A-. A 94.5 is an A. So I need to get a 95 at least on my exam???

Roger: Yep, sounds about right.

I have an 81% average. I got a 78.18% on my final. Test is worth either 22 or 28% What's my final grade? Post both grades please!

Roger: 80.3 or 80.2. Either way, it’s a B.
