Why??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Does my pillow smell like tartar sauce? serious question.

Roger: My pillow was the same way, until I found out you’re supposed to wash your pillow every week, also it was a taco not a pillow.

I've have a 95 in my class right now but each day I go I forget to turn in this hw assignment worth 45% of my grade If I turn it in tomorrow for a 60 what will my overall grade be please help!

Roger: Are you sure your assignment is worth 45% of your grade by itself? Or did you mean that your assignment is part of a “homework category” that’s worth 45% altogether? Either way, the answer depends on how much of your coursework you’ve completed so far. If I assume that your assignment is worth 45% by itself, and that your “95%” grade represents 35% of your coursework, then your overall grade will go down to a 79.7%. However, I find it hard to believe that a single homework assignment can be worth almost half of your entire grade.

I got a 54 in algebra class I got a 80 on my quiz that's worth 20% what's my new grade ?

Roger: It depends on how much of your coursework you’ve completed so far. (Also, I’ll assume that your quiz is worth 20% by itself, and isn’t part of a “quizzes” category that’s altogether worth 20%.) For example, if your “54%” grade represents 40% of your total coursework, then your quiz score would bring your overall grade up to a 62.7%.

I have a 91.83 in my class with 4 test left each worth 10 percent. What average grade do I need in each test to bring my grade up to a 93 is that possible?

Roger: You’ll need to average at least a 94.8% on your 4 remaining tests to get a 93% overall (assuming you have no other remaining assignments other than your tests).

Tests are worth 50% of our grade, labs are worth 25% of our grade, and hw+ other stuff is worth the last 25%. I have a 71% test grade average and a 100% on the hw and labs. I currently have an 82% in the class. We have 2 more tests plus the final (which is 10% of our grade). What would I need to get on those tests to end the class with an A?

Roger: If your test average is a 71% and your homework and lab averages are 100%, then your overall grade should be a 85.5%, not a 82%. Also, which category does your final go into? Your 4 percentages add up to 110%, unless your final exam is actually included in another category. Anyway, the answer depends on how many tests you’ve already taken. In order to raise your overall grade by 8 percentage points, you’ll need to raise your test average to an 87%. If you’ve taken 1 test so far, then you’ll be able to raise your test average to an 87% by scoring a 95% on your next 2 tests. Hope this helps!

Hey Roger, I have a current 97% in my course and the midterm is worth 30% and the final is worth 30%. What is the bear minimum I need to get on my mid term and final to pull away with at least a 70% total grade?

Roger: Assuming you have no remaining assignments other than your midterm and final, you’ll need to average at least a 52% on your midterm and final to get a 70% overall.

I have a 53 in a class, but what if i get a 100 on a major grade. Major grades are 60%

Roger: It depends on (1) how many major grades you’ve had so far, (2) your average score on your major grades, and (3) whether each of your major grades is worth the same fraction of that 60%.

I have a 66.5 in my math class and i just got a 70 on my quiz. My quiz is worth 25% of my final grade. The marking period is ending and what ever my grade is final will be on my report card. What will my grade be now that i have a 70 on my quiz.

Roger: Are you sure your quiz is worth 25% of your grade? Or did you mean that your quiz is part of a “quizzes” category, which is altogether worth 25% of your grade? If it really is 25% of your grade, then your overall grade will go up to a 67.4%.

I had a 92 in one of my classes and just took a test (worth 70% of our grade) and I might have gotten an 80%. What would my grade end up being?

And with that new grade, I will have a few more tests coming up. How much will I need to score a 90 in the class overall?

Roger: Your current grade depends on (1) how many tests you’ve taken so far, (2) your current test average, and (3) whether you have any empty categories in your grade, like a “Participation” category that has no score assigned to it. For your second question, the answer depends on how many more tests you have left.

Roger: It depends on (1) your current test average, (2) how many tests you’ve taken so far, and (3) how many more tests you have to take.

I have a 79.04 percent in my test category, which is 40 percent of my grade. My overall grade is a 87.04. What do I have to get as an average for my remaining tests for my overall grade to be a 90 percent before the final, which is 20 percent of my grade. If it matters, I think that I will have 4 more tests before the final.

Roger: The answer depends on how many tests you’ve taken already. In order to raise your overall grade to a 90% before the final, you’ll need to raise your test average to a 85.0% (assuming your other grade categories stay the same). Let’s say you’ve taken 2 tests so far. In that case, you’ll need to average at least a 87.9% on your next 4 tests. If you’ve already taken 4 tests, then you’ll need to average at least a 90.9% on your next 4 tests. If you’ve already taken 6 tests, then you’ll need to average at least a 93.8% on your next 4 tests. Hope this helps!

I failed the 1st test with a 49%, failed the 2nd test with a 62%. There is 1 more test and all 3 are worth 20%. The final exam is worth 30% and the rest of the grade is made up of 10%, 10%, 15%, 15%. What do I need to get on the tests to pass the class with a 65 or better?

Roger: It depends on what you score on those 10%, 10%, 15%, and 15% assignments. If you’re interested in keeping your test average (including your 3 tests and your final exam) above a 65%, then you’ll need to average at least a 68.5% on your 3rd test and your final exam.

I have an 88 in math but I got a 61% on a test that is 15% of my grade. What will my grade be?

Roger: It depends on how much of your coursework you’ve completed so far. For example, if your “88%” current grade represents 40% of your coursework, then your test will bring your grade down to a 80.6%.

I am in Honors class. My current grade is a 97.60%, and I have seven different assignments done. There are two quizes, and one test. One mini project and the rest are homework grades. Tests are 50% of our grade, quizes are 30%, mini projects are 15% and homework is 5%. My last test was a 98.5. I recently just took a test, and got and 87% on it. What will be my new grade? How can I bring that new grade back to an A+? Please respond as quickly as possible.

Roger: Your overall grade will drop to a 94.73%. Since your overall grade is lower than your test average, you must have some category that’s dragging your grade down. What are your scores in your other categories? Your updated test average will be a 91.5%. To raise your grade, you should focus on whichever category that both (1) is worth a large part of your grade and (2) currently has a low average score.

Hi everyone! I'm a huge fan of this website! I absolutely loooove it!!! I truly can't say it enough. For every final I have ever taken, this is the only thing I've ever used. My brother was the 1st person to show it to me. I thought it was amazing so I showed it to some of my friends. And, before I knew it, every single person in my school is now using rogerhub.com! If you think about it, it got around to over 2,000 people in less than 3 months! I don't know if you ever read these, but if you do, I just want to say a HUGE thank you to Roger for everything he has done here. You really have created something amazing. If you read this, can you please e-mail me at _________? I have a question but I don't feel comfortable posting it publicly. Thank you so much! This is amazing, and I plan on showing more and more people and using this until the day I graduate law school (even though I'm only a freshman in highschool). E-mail me, and again, this is incredible- the fact that you are smart enough to create something this complex is amazing. I am sorry if this sounds repetitive, but my thankfulness is redundant, so again, thank you!
Sincerely,
Lexi A.

Roger: I’m glad you like it! Thanks for sharing your appreciation. I removed your email address from your comment. (You shouldn’t post an email address in a public place, especially if it contains personally identifiable information, like a school district.) You are welcome to email me if it’s about a personal question. I try to respond within a few days. But I usually don’t respond to grade calculation questions via email. There are already so many of those posted here on this page, and I wouldn’t be able to handle an inbox full of them too.

our tests determine our grade and we have 3 tests before report cards come out...
I failed our first test which is a 63.7% (-D).
what do I need to get on the next two test to bring my grade up at least to a B or a A?

Roger: Assuming that each test is worth the same amount, you’ll need to average at least a 88.2% on your next two tests to get a 80% overall. If you want a 90% overall instead, you’ll need to average at least a 103.2% on your next two tests.

I was super worried with only 1% wiggle room but now I know that I would have to get a 34.67% on the last test to get worse than an 87% so I'm really happy. Thanks a lot!

Hey
Wed, 19 Oct 2016 23:28:17 GMT

So far I only have a 14% in my class. (Bombed the midterm) but the grading is as follows
Next assignment 10%
Big assignment 25%
Other assignment 10%
Final exam 25%...
Do i still have a chance of passing this course ?

Roger: It depends on what overall grade you need in order to pass. Let’s say that you’ll need at least a 60% overall grade to pass. You’ll need to average at least a 79.7% on your remaining assignments and final exam to raise your grade to a 60%. You could also put in “14%”, “60%”, and “70%” into the Final Grade Calculator to get the same answer. The “70%” weight comes from the sum of your remaining assignments (10%, 25%, 10%, and 25%).

Hi Roger,

I'm currently getting a 63% in a class. As of right now, we've had 4 tests, and my average test score is a 51%. Tests are worth 70% in this class, and we have one more test before the end of the quarter. I wanted to know what my grade in the class would be if I get a.) a 70% on the next test, b.) an 80%, c.) a 90%, or d.) a 100%.

Thank you so much for your time!

Roger: (Copied from my answer to your previous question.) It depends on whether you have any empty categories in your grade (like a “Participation” category that has no score assigned to it). I’ll assume you do not. In that case, your overall grade will be either a.) 65.7%, b.) 67.1%, c.) 68.5%, or d.) 69.9% for each of the 4 possible test grades you listed. If you actually do have empty categories in your grade, then these numbers will be underestimates.

1st test: 75%
2nd test: 72.5%

I got 19% on my first exam and 52% on my 2nd. I have two more exams that in all, account for 50% of my overall grade. My labs and assignments are great however I just want to know how screwed I am and is it too late to get a passing grade * C- or higher on my class?

Roger: I’ll assume a C- means “at least a 70%”. If you average at least a 86% on your remaining 2 exams and the rest of your assignments, then you’ll be able to raise your grade to a 70%.
