My math grade is an 84.4 for the semester. Abysmal, right? Anyway, the semester exam is 20% of the grade. Is there an equation that represents the percent my semester grade has to be at in order for me to get a certain overall grade after factoring in whatever I get on the exam?
Eg. I have an 84.4 (x). I want my grade to be a 90 (y) after I take the exam. Assuming I get a 100 (a) on the exam, what percentage (b) should my semester grade be at before I take the exam so that when I get a 100 on the exam, my grade will be a 90?
