I'm at an 71% in my class now and need and 80% by May 15th we still have 5 exams left that is worth 100pts each and all together combined worth 50% of my grade and final worth 25% plus 5 more quizzes worth 100pt each and worth 25% of my grade what do I need to get to pass the class with and 80%
Roger: The answer depends on how many exams and/or quizzes you’ve taken so far, as well as your current exam average and quiz average. By the way, check out the new option labeled “I need something else” on the calculator. It should be able to answer your question.

Roger, I have a 71% in math just from one assignment. How many 100% assignments will I have to get to earn at least a 90% or an A
Roger: Assuming all of your assignments are worth the same, you’ll need to score 100% on at least 1.90 assignments to raise your grade to a 90%. (Since you probably want a whole number, that rounds up to 2.)

Roger: Are some of your quizzes worth more than others? It’s strange that your overall grade is expressed in points out of 42, since half of 30% plus your 1st exam (25%) should be 40%. Anyway, if you want a 70% overall, you’ll need to average at least a 78.0% on your remaining 3 quizzes, 2nd exam, and project. If you want a 80% overall, you’ll need to average at least a 95.3% on your remaining 3 quizzes, 2nd exam, and project.

Hi roger im taking a marketing research class. I have failed the last 2 exams. There's another upcoming one in 2 weeks. The exams are each worth 20% of our final grade. So 3 exams make it 60% of our final grade. We have a qualitrics survey assignment worth 5% a group project worth 30% and participation which is another 5%. She gives us some bonus quizzes towards the end of class like once a week which will help up 3% of our final grade. I don't know where I stand in the class yet because shes not a consistent professor who keeps up to date with our grades. Can u please help me as to what I have to get in order to even pass this class with a C? Like will getting an A On the group project help me ? Please help!!!!!!!
Roger: So just to be clear, you have no idea what you scored on your first 2 exams? I’ll assume you got 50% on them. If you get 100% on your Qualtrics survey, your group project, and your participation, your overall grade should go up to a 75%. If you want a 70% overall, then you’ll need to score at least a 50% on your 3rd exam. Hope that helps!

Math doesn't come easy to me and I have to work hard. I just got a 95% on a test and it only brought my 79% to an 82%. My teacher says it's because it's weighted. How can I calculate what my grades are going to be if the class is weighted and worth 60% of my overall grade?
Roger: Was that your first test? When your grade has weighted categories, that means tests and projects earlier in the semester appear to have a greater effect on your grade than they ultimately do. The effect works both positively and negatively. But if you maintain your current test average, then your grade won’t go down even after you take more tests. Does that help?

Roger: Your AP Lit grade should go up to a 88.15%. Your French grade should go up to a 89.48%. Your AP Euro grade should go up to a 88.70% (since your categories only add up to 99.9%, I added another tenth of a percent to your final exam category). Your newspaper grade should go up to a 91.71%. Your AP Physics grade should go up to a 90.96%. And your calculus grade should go up to a 91.73%, assuming that each test and each quiz is worth the same fraction of their respective categories. If you have 3 A’s and 3 B’s, that should be a 3.5 GPA.

**Sorry this is the third time I am posting this message! I messed up some numbers. Here is my final question.**
Hi, could someone please help me figure out what I need to get on my test to keep an 89.5% (rounds up to a 90) in the class? The weight of one test is 15 out of 85 points, or in other words, about 18%. If I take a test that is worth two test grades, and I have already taken 4 tests ( grades on those were: 96, 83, 98, 100. Currently I have 93.6676% average in that class. In the other three categories that make up the 85 points, I have a 96.5%, which is worth 20/85 points; a 92.6%, which is worth 30/85 points; and a 92%, which is worth 20/85 points. ), what would I need to score in order to maintain an A in the class? Thank you in advance.
Roger: You’ll need to score at least a 23.4% on your test in order to get at least a 89.5% overall.

i have a 67 average, and the exam is worth 25% of our grade. so what grade would i need to get at least a 70? or maybe a 75%?
Roger: Assuming that your exam is the only thing remaining in your grade, you’ll need to score at least a 79.0% on the exam to raise your grade to a 70%. If you want a 75% instead, you’ll need to score at least a 99.0% on the exam.

i have a 94.9 in science, i just took a quiz, i got a 3 out of 5 which is a 60, it was a quiz grade so it is 40% of our grade, what is my grade?
Roger: It sounds like your quiz isn’t worth 40% by itself, but that it’s part of a “quizzes” category which is altogether worth 40%. In that case, the answer depends on how many quizzes you’ve taken so far, your current quiz average, and whether you have any empty categories in your grade.

I need to past math to graduate my grades have a 77,61,60 and I plan on getting a 68 this quarter. If the final is worth 20% of my grades and I need a 65 overall to pass what should I try to aim to get on my final exam.
Roger: Just to be clear, you meant that your 4 quarterly grades are going to be 77%, 61%, 60%, and (probably) 68%, right? In that case, your current overall grade should be a 66.5%. You’ll need to score at least a 59% on your final exam to get a 65% overall.

hello roger. Im taking a marketing research class. the whole class is struggling about how to pass. her class average on her exams are D/F. I have taken the last two exams and have failed. There's another upcoming exam in two weeks. Each of the 3 exams is worth 20% of our grade so that makes it 60%. We have a final group project worth 30% of our grade. participation is 5%, im always in class, the qualtrics survey was 5% of our grade which i also did good on. If i currently have an F in the class or D, and I somehow get an A on the group project will that bump up my grade? Also there are some bonus quizzes she gives at the end of class which I may have a few points but im not sure how many. please help! im so stressed out
Roger: I’ll assume that your participation and survey scores are already included in your overall grade. In that case, getting an A on your group project should raise your grade by about 10 to 15 percentage points, depending on exactly what you score on it. Do you have any more details about your bonus quizzes?

I forgot this in my previous comment, but i was wondering how I could calculate my final grade when there's more than one assignment and final left? This calculator works great if all you had left was the final, but I also have multiple assignments i could use to boost my grade.
Roger: Great question! The short answer is that it depends on how exactly your course grade is calculated. For example, if you do really well on your next quiz, then it could raise your quiz average, which would cause a proportional rise in your overall grade. Exactly how much depends on (1) how many quizzes you’ve taken so far, (2) your current quiz average, (3) what you scored on your quiz, (4) how much your quiz category is worth, (5) whether you have any empty categories in your grade, like a “participation” category with no score yet, and (6) whether all of your quizzes are worth an equal fraction of your quiz category grade. Another thing to consider is that your overall grade can sometimes be a misrepresentation of the coursework you’ve completed so far. For example, if you have a “tests” category that’s worth 60% of your grade, but you’ve only taken 1 test, then that single test effectively counts for more than half of your grade. The underlying assumption is that “60%” is par for the course when it comes to your test grades, so it makes a good indicator of what you’ll probably score on future tests. If you tell me about your grade situation in a comment, I’d be happy to do the math for you. I’m also working on a new version of the calculator that can handle these kinds of situations and much more (it should be ready in a few weeks). But also, let me know if you want more details about how to solve a problem involving multiple unknown grades.
For Priya
Mon, 10 Apr 2017 17:49:19 GMT
Priya who wrote about her boyfriend wanting her to ditch classes:
- please don't. your education is your future. somebody who cares about you knows this and wouldn't ask you to ditch your classes. Your boyfriend is being selfish and prioritizing himself over you. That doesn't mean he's a bad person, perhaps he's just childish or immature but you have to be firm and let him know that you will spend time with him when your exams are over. If he can't handle that then all you loose is someone who doesn't care about you. This kind of demand leads to more abusive and controlling behaviors down the line if you stay together and oblige every time: first he won't want you to go out with your friends, then he won't like your job because there are other men there or because it keeps you too busy. Take control of your own future and assert yourself.

Hey Roger, could you explain how this equation works to me?
Why do you subtract the exam worth from 1?
When I try this equation myself, I get something completely different.
My grade is 72.2%, the exam is worth 50 (I gotta double check that though), and i want at least an 80%.
I set it up as:
50x+(1-50)*72=80
Simplified:
50x + (-49)* 72=80
50x+ (-3528)= 80
50x=3608
x=72.16
What am I doing wrong?
Roger: You should treat the 1 as “100%”, because percentages are ratios of 100. So, start with (50%)(x) + (100% - 50%)(72%) = 80%. Remember that when you multiply percentages, you’re actually multiplying two fractions of 100. If you simplify that expression, it becomes (50%)(x) + 36% = 80%. Then, with a bit more algebra, you should find that x is 88.0%. Also, are you sure that your final exam is worth 50% of your overall grade? That seems awfully high. Also, you should use 72.2% instead of 72% for a more precise answer.
Bill joy

What are the limits of this calculator?
Roger: Probably something close to the limits of double-precision floats.

could you also calculate my academic gpa (non-weighted) with the final grades that you calculated?
I have a fuckload of hard classes LOL for a freshie in high school but help me out, thanks always!
If you have 3 A’s and 3 B’s, that should be a 3.5 GPA.
the flight is over booked
Hello I have 4 exams that are worth 60 percent of my grade my final exam is 15 percent my home work is 10 pecent and my lab exam is 15 percent my 1st test was a 68 my second was a 56 and my first 3 home works were 100 each what's my average so far
Roger: Your current overall grade should be a 67.4%.
BODY ONCE TOLD ME
I dont lie, I just give alternative facts
Literally gonna kms have to grade all these greasy kids finals -_-
i really want to get a good grade atleast an a or b soo i need to work hard to achieve my goal
Motivation please
Roger: Okay here.
KMS Im never gonna have all As ;(
**Sorry this is the third time I am posting this message!
I have a 84.5% in my class and my final exam is worth 40% say I get a 0% on the final, what would my final grade be?
Roger: Your overall grade should drop to a 50.7%.
love you roger, you are my god
I have a 87.20% in my Math class. I need to get it to a 94% by may 20. Can i do that
Roger: It’s hard to say, without knowing more details. But since 94% is more than halfway from 87.20% to 100%, I’d say probably not?
I want t ohelp my boyfriend in school but I need to help myself first. Is it bad that I care about my school grades before I help him with his?
Help? if you have a 95% and you got a 60% on your test. You would have a 55% right?
i have a 94.9 in science, i just took a quiz, i got a 3 out of 5 which is a 60, it was a quiz grade so it is 40% of our grade, what is my grade?
Hi Roger no the professor has not entered im any of our bonus quiz points or anything yet. Im just so nervous for this class.
What would my grade be? These are all of my grades and weights.
45%: 84%, 86%, 90%, 70%.
45%: 90%, 70%,, 75%, 100%, 80%, 50%, 80%, 50%
10%: 100%, 100%, 100%, 100%, 100%, 95%.
Roger: Your overall grade should be a 80.5%.
Bio pre ap 77% I dun goofed hard chem 12 i had a 84% now im down to 75% after one test my teacher wont let me re write i want to kill myself and i want to die
thank you for this helpful calculator roger! :))))
Roger: You’re welcome!
If my grade is 75 currently, and I do the extra credit option that is .33% towards my final grade, what will my grade become with the EC?
Roger: Well, 75% + 0.33% is 75.33%. Is that what you were asking for?
hello roger.
50x=3608
x=72.16
What are the limits of this calculator?
Roger: Probably something close to the limits of double-precision floats.
Why is being gay a sin?
