Roger: It depends on how many tests you’ve taken already and your current test average. By the way, try out the calculator option labeled “I need something else”. It should be able to calculate your updated overall grade with your last test included.

At this point, I am happy with a B in one of my classes and now I know I only need a 40% on the final to pass. Thank you for this! I've been using it since high school.

Hello I'm trying to figure this out I have a final tomorrow and I have already tooken one and made a 96 on it the two are averaged together what will I have to make on the other final to pass they are 20% of my grade and I have an 81 average.

Roger: What’s the minimum overall grade you need in order to pass? By the way, you can answer this question by simply using the calculator twice. For example, if you want to get an 80% overall, then first, you put “81%”, “80%”, and “20%” into the calculator, and then it should tell you that you need at least a 76% on your final. Then, put in “96%”, “76%”, and “50%” into the calculator, and it should tell you that you’ll need to score at least a 56% on the second part of the final. We use “50%” because each part of your final is worth half of the 20% “final” category, and half means 50%.

Amari, that's not enough information. Roger needs to know the percentage that your final holds in your grade calculations. If you had that, you could compute the numbers yourself in the handy-dandy calculator above. Good luck!

Hi Roger! I am really scared because my overall grade in english is 87.9% and I got 14/20 on my recent quiz. How much is it going to bring it down to? And if I get 49/50 on my test what is it going to be after. I at least need a 89%. I hope you can help me with this because I am really stressed out!!!!

Roger: It depends on how much your quiz and test are worth. Do you have a “quizzes” category? And a “tests” category? Or is your grade just one big pile of points? How many other quizzes and tests have you already taken? And what did you score on them?

Hi! These are the grade catagories for my class. Next to each I have put my grade. I need to know what I need to get on my final exam to get a 95%. It falls under the exam category along with my midterm grade which I listed
class participation 10% - 99
final project 30% - 95
exams 30% - midterm 86, final TBD
responses/oral pres. 15% - 96
blog writing 15% - 95

Roger: I’ll assume that your midterm and your final are each worth half of your 30% “exams” category. In that case ,your current overall grade is a 92.9% (or a 94.1%, depending on how you interpret your “exams” category). You’ll need to score at least a 100.3% on your final exam to raise your overall grade to a 95%.
