Roger did you take WHAP? did ANYONE take whap? WTF do I do? I studied EVERYTHING this weekend - powerpoint notes, crash course videos, test reviews, documents online and weird websites, and I got a 70 fucking 8. Some people didn't study and got an 80. I'm so fucking mad.

I’m failing math and the quarter ends in 3 weeks

my teacher takes everything out of 100 points. my classwork is worth 20% of my grade and the tests are worth 80% of my grade. i have 600/600 points in classwork (100%), and 250/300 points on my tests (83.3333%). i currently have a 86 in the class. i'm retaking a test i got a 65 on and she takes the average of two test scores for a new score. if got a 100% on the retake, what would my new grade be?

Omg I know right. Like literally there is no way that all my hard work doesn’t instantly guarantee me with a great future. College is definitely going to solve all my problems and I couldn’t live without a 3.89. The fact that I have good grades literally show nothing about me as a person either haha because like the only correlation between college and success is how great the college is!
Colleges totally make sense because like omg my parents and teachers and councellors said so. I definitely want to keep going to pay thousands of dollars to go to school for 4 more years! There’s no way that interacting with society, joining the military, or creating rather than following the rules will set up a future for me!

On a personal note, I’m sorry that I offended you. You need to open your mind because college just gets you a piece of nice paper and debt. What you do with that paper is how you set up your future. I was actually trying to encourage others after reading their comments, and you hurt me by calling me “dumb” based on one fragment of my life. You can do a lot with your life, but you never change the world by doing what it tells you to do.

Roger: How does your final exam affect your overall grade? I’ll assume that none of your labs have been included in your “84.5%” lecture grade yet. In that case, your 89% lab average should raise your lecture grade to 86.1% (e.g. 84.5%×65%+89%×35%). Is that what you were asking for?

that is so dumb. high school and college is about building yourself a solid future, so you don't have to worry about where you're going to stay the night or if you can afford to eat. no career or steady job means a poor future. working at mcdonalds because you didn't try in school won't make your life great.

Hey! I would like to tell you all that failing a class is not the end of the world (and I would like it if you stopped making suicide jokes in response to your GPA). You shouldn’t be hopeless because of your grades, because, believe it or not, nobody cares if you had a 4.0 or a 2.1 or dropped out. Your life isn’t going to fall apart because you can’t wear the one-curriculum-fits-all shoes of modern education. There are other shoes, and sometimes, you don’t even need shoes at all. So even if you fail all of your classes, living on the beaches is great, because humans can live without shoes anyway. Hint: You are not the one failing your future. The education system is failing you.

Live in a way that makes future you look back and say, “wow. I lived a great life.” Future you will not be impressed with a 4.0 if your mind is clouded with anger, lies, and regret. You deserve to live a good life, so get up and start something good. You may feel like you can do nothing to change the way the system is, but that is far from the truth. Be the one that stands up to the neighborhood bully, because everyone’s life is better without dread.

My Spanish teacher is suuuuper weird and has already had us take 2 out of the 3 parts of our final, and now I guess we are going to spend 2 weeks studying for the 3rd part. This means the next 2 weeks of Spanish are going to be heaven for me 'cause I won't be paying attention at all. I have to get less than -60.06% on the 3rd part of my final for me to finish with an A. I'm gonna laugh when my teacher finds a way for me to get a NEGATIVE 60% on my final. Trust me when I say that she will find a way- she is the weirdest teacher I have ever had, but she is also one of the best because she teaches in engaging ways.
