GRADES DON'T MATTER. I mean, you kinda need to have passing grades. But other than that, they really have little impact on your future. Taking all honors and AP classes might get you into a good college. And what's that going to do? Saddle you with massive debt and give you an entitled, snobbish, arrogant worldview. Ok, so maybe you get a "good job". What the hell does that mean? For most people (who haven't thought about this), it means living a meaningless life just to get a few extra dollars and not even being in control of it.

I have a 74 for the class in MyLabsPlus which is where all our grades are kept. My final is worth 15% of my grade. My tests scores are 88, 68, 70, and 75. What is the LOWEST score I can get that will not drop my grade?

Roger: How do your test scores factor into your overall grade? In general, if you want a 74% and you currently have a 74%, then you’ll need to score at least a 74% on the final regardless of what it’s worth.

I have a 92.56 in my World History II class, and I got an 82 on my most recent test. None of my assignments are weighted, so how would I calculate it?

Roger: You should be able to use points to figure out how much your test is worth. For example, if the course offers 600 points total (including the most recent test) and the test itself is worth 100 points, then the test should be 100/600 (e.g. 16.7%) of your overall grade.

This calculator says that if you have a 78 in a class, and you wanna get a 70, you need to score atleast a -2% on an exam worth 10%. This doesn’t make sense. If you got a 0 on the exam wouldn’t it bring you down 10 points making your 78 go to a 68?

Roger: If you got a zero on the exam, it should bring your 78% down to a 78%×90%, which is 70.20%. That’s a decrease of 7.80%, not 10.0%. Consider an overall grade of 5.0%. Getting a zero on the exam shouldn’t lower your overall grade to −5%, right?
