Roger: You need at least a 49.5% on the final in order to get a 72% overall.

My essay average is an 85, does that make a difference?

Roger: Hmm, when you posted your previous question, it sounded like all of your assignments went into a single category. You said that your paper is worth 100 points, which would make it 100/391 (25.6%) of your grade. Does that sound right?

If I have an 89.4 (260.25/291) and we have a 100 point paper, what do I need to get on the paper to get an 89.5? 92.5?

Roger: To get an 89.5% overall, you will need at least a 89.7% on the paper. To get a 92.5% overall, you will need at least a 101.4% on the paper.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this website but I have a single question for you Roger. Why did u make it. I fail to understand how this could benefit you in any way. It seems rather time consuming.

Roger: Because I love you all so much <3

I have a 67% in my Algebra II class right now and my final is worth 15%. What is the highest possible grade I could have assuming I got between an 80%-100% on the final?

Homework (8.5%) - 87%
Tests (60%) - 70%
Quizzes (16.5%) - 70%
Final (15%)

Also the final replaces my lowest test score (44%) with the score I get on the final.

Roger: How many tests have you taken so far?

Hello roger, are we a hundred percent sure that this formula works, because if not then my math grade will become a b because of it. The website says that i need to get a 60.3 to keep an A, so i will not be studying for it. My grades are in your hands...

Roger: Yep, it works.

86.875 quiz average. 20%
85 homework average. 15%
76 test average. 50%
What is my grade before the final.

Roger: 80.15%.

Interesting, one of my teachers takes forever to upload the grades I have already taken his final. and I haven't taken the 2nd final yet in my last class but it's only 10% and I have an 83 so I'm not totally worried. At least this will give me an idea of what I will make thanks for this nifty calculator. As I am bad at math, nor do I have the patience to learn it. lol

What would I do if my teacher does not weight the grades by subject but just has one overall category where she puts in all the points?

Roger: There’s an option that says “My class has a point system. How much is the final worth?”. That should tell you how much your final is worth. Once you find that out, you can use the Final Grade Calculator to figure the rest out.

Also, the final is worth 10% of my overall grade. Sorry, I forgot to include that in my last post.

Roger: I’ll answer your question below.

Hi, I wanted to say that I am a huge fan of this site, and it always helps calm me down around finals time. I was just wondering how does the formula change / how do you figure out the grade you need to get if your class is on a 5 point grading system? I currently have an 82.28% (which because of the 5 point system is an A-), and I want to have at least an 80% after the final in order to keep that A-. Is the formula the same, or does it change for calculating on a 5 point scale? Thanks again!

Roger: The calculator will work for your grading system without any modifications. No worries ;)

Roger,
I have a final and all the homework is being collected at the same time. How do I find out the percentage of my grade the homework will be? Is it determined by weight, total weighted points or total points?

Roger: Have you tried asking your instructor?

I have a 90 in my surgical class and the final is worth 10% of my grade. What do I need to get on my final to keep my 90? I really want to keep my A!
Thanks

Roger: You need at least a 90% on your final to keep your 90% overall.

Hello I was wondering I went into my final with a 97.7% average on all my tests and a high A on homework and 100 on quizzes my final accounted for 30% of my grade and if he felt you were borderline from grade to grade he would drop it to 25%. What would I need to get on the final to at least get a B? Because somehow I ended up with a C! Thank you!

Roger: Well, if we assume that you had around a 98% overall, you would need at least a 38% on the final to get a B (or a 26%, if the final were worth 25%). You would need at least a 4.6% on the final to get a C (or a -14%, if the final were worth 25%). Perhaps there was a grading error?

Roger... I have a 80.67 for class discussions which is worth 10% of my grade and I have an 87 on homework which is worth 40% of my final grade and a 21 on my midterm (unfortunately I really bombed the astronomy midterm) which is worth 30% of my grade. My final project is worth 20% of my grade. What grade would I have to get on my final project to pass the course with a 70 which is a C?

Thank you!

Greg

Roger: Well, your current grade right now is a 61.5%, and you’ll need at least a 104% on the final project to raise your grade to a 70%.

Hi Roger – I have a 3 classes I'm close to failing with a 64.3%, 65.9%, and 67.2%, and the semester test is worth 15% of our grade. I want to know for each one, what I need to pass the class.

Roger: What percentage do you need to pass? I’ll assume that it’s 60%. You’ll need 35.6%, 26.6%, and 19.2% to pass those three classes (in the order you listed them).

Same question but it's 65 to pass

Roger: Okay. You will need 68.9%, 60.0%, and 52.5% on the final to pass those three classes.
