I have a 93% and I want to get a 90 or above but what will happen if I get a zero

Roger: If you get a zero on what? Your final exam? If so, how much is it worth?

I'm sorry I made a mistake in my last post. I had a 88% overall (under semester grade) and I received a 64% on the final. The final was worth 20%, and it brought me down to a 78% for semester.

Roger: Your grade should have gone down to a 83.2%. However, if the final was actually worth 40%, it would have brought your grade down to a 78%. Or, if you got a 40% on the final, it would have brought your grade down to a 78%. If neither of those are true, you should check with your instructor that there isn’t an error in your grade.

Hello, I currently have a 97.02 in my class and the final is worth 15 percent. I have taken part of the final and earned a 30 out of 30 points possible on it. The second part of the final is 65 points, bringing the total number of point in the final category to 95. What do I need to get to maintain an A? (89.6%)

Roger: Well, you need at least a 47.6% on your final overall, so you need to score at least a 15.2/65 (23.3%) on the second part in order to maintain an A.

Hey Roger,

I have a 75 in my test category (48%) of my grade (81.86%) but if i get a 0 (personal reasons) what grade will I end up with

Roger: It depends on how many tests you have taken so far.

It says I only need a - 31% on my final to get an A, but how does someone score lower than 0%?

I already took my final and ,with it, my grade in the class is 94.2%. There are 1413 points possible in the gradebook. If she were to add 20 points of extra credit, could I end up with a 95% in the class?

Roger: Your grade would go up by 1.4% to a 95.6%.

Hi I have a question. I used your calculator to determine what grade I needed to get on the final and it said I needed to get an 88% and I received a 64% and it dropped my grade down to a 78%. Why did this happen? The final was worth 20%.

Roger: Can you give me more information about your grade? What was your overall grade before you took the final?

I know this isn't related to the calculator, but when are you graduating from Berkeley? Do you by any chance know someone by the name of Yizhe Liu, Yoojong Jin, and Louis Chen? Good luck on your finals!

Roger: I haven’t heard of any of them. There are quite a few people in Berkeley ;)

I wanted to see what I had to get to keep my 90 in Biology. The calculator said I would need a 90% on my final that was worth 10%. JUST got the bio final results in, and I got a 87%. Yet, I still get to keep my A! No offense but I'm glad the calculations were wrong. : )

The 90% did scare me enough to study till 10 PM, so you did help me on that part. : )

Roger: Congrats! The discrepancy was probably caused by your numbers being too imprecise. For example, you might have had a 90.45% overall while you told the calculator you only had a 90.00%. Either way, good job pushing yourself!

Hey Roger, I find your website very useful, but I would like to know what I need to get on the essay portion of my final to maintain my grade. I have a 74.87 in the class, I got a 88.98 on my final, which is 15 % of my grade, what do I need to get on the essay portion which is 5% of my grade.

Roger: I’ll assume that by “maintain your grade”, you mean that you want at least a 70% overall. If so, you will need at least a -64.9% (that’s negative) on the remaining 5% essay portion. On the other hand, to get a 80% overall, you need at least a 135% on the essay portion.

Hey Roger, I have a 64.4% in a class, the final is worth 20% of my grade. the set up is a point system. I am confused as to how to do the math on that. could you please do it for me? Thank you so much!!!

Roger: Your course is on a point system? But you just said that the final was worth 20% of your grade. What do you mean?

I have a 94% in English and I have 2 parts to my final- an essay that's worth 60% and multiple choice that's worth 40%. The whole final is worth 20%, but the essay is graded on a 5-10 scale (ex: I got a 9 on my last essay which translates to a 90%) what percent would I need on each part to keep my grade at a 90%?

Roger: You would need to average a 74% on the two parts. For example, you could get a 8/10 on the essay and a 65% on the multiple choice, or a 7/10 on the essay and a 80% on the multiple choice.

I have a 62.2% in Science and my final is out of 250 points. How many questions don't have to score correctly to keep my 60%? I need to score a 47%

Roger: You need to score at least 117.5 points out of 250.

I thank you for answering my question. I have a GPA of 67.11, I have one assignment that is not graded, this assignment has a weight of 23 points and is the only assignment in that category. Can you tell me what I need to get to receive an overall GPA of 70? 70 is what I need to pass the class.

Roger: You need at least a 79.7% on the assignment to get a 70% overall.

I have a 74% right now (final and everything combined) I have 3 assignments (quizzes) left to be grades and i think they are each worth 10 percent and 8 points extra credit. what would i need to get in order to get a B? (80%)

Roger: Are you sure your quizzes are each worth 10%? You would need a 94% on those three quizzes to bring your grade up to a 80%.
