I am going to get my first B in highschool, freshman year, and I have got A's in every single class I have taken before. My parents only accept A's. Roger can you give advice please.

Roger: I got my first B of high school even before freshman year started. It was in Honors Biology during the summer before 9th grade. I thought I was off to a terrible start, but after that, I took AP Biology and Biology IB/HL2 and got all A’s in them both. So, maybe just don’t worry about it? You’ll have plenty of opportunities later to prove what you’re capable of.

Hey, I don't think a B on a Spanish pre-AP class will affect your chances of getting into college. But you might think they do when the going gets tougher in junior year. Personally, I'd recommend you stay up so that you personally know you did your best this time around. But if you're really just asking for colleges, I don't think they care one whit what you get in that class, especially if you're not thinking to go into a language major.

Maybe review for a couple minutes but you shoud go to sleep and if you can just go over it in the morning, while having good grades is important if you want to get into a good college since it is only your freshman year you'll be fine, a lot of colleges look for an upward trend in your grade, your grade gets higher (so next year turn that B into an A), also colleges are more leniant toward freshman on the first half of the school year if they have a bad grade as they'll assume that maybe you struggled with the transition from middle school to high school

So, I'm a freshmen and will have all A's, but I have a 88% in my Spanish 1 Pre-Ap class, I need a 90% to get an A and obtain a 4.0. My final is tomorrow and I hate spanish, is it worth not getting any sleep and trying to get a 98% on the final? Or should I just have a 3.8 and it won't affect what college I get into when I apply later in life... Please help!

Roger, what code language did you learn first? AP Comp Sci is set up for java, but my my friends majoring in college said that this language is rarely used. Which one is most applicable to the real world?

Roger: I first learned JavaScript when I was 10, but I wouldn’t recommend making the same mistake. Java is actually used in a lot of enterprise environments (think banks and insurance) as well as places like Google, especially for Android mobile app development. You could pick another language based on your goals (Python/JavaScript for web development, C/C++ for systems and embedded programming, Objective C for iOS).
