I figured out the formula to do this on my calculator, and graphed it. It was pretty cool.
(grade w/o final) x (1-final%) + final grade(final%)
So if you've got an 87.7 and you want an 89.5 and your final is 15%, you'd do
87.7(.85) + (.15)X.

To the person who got an 88% in their class:
If a 88% final raised your grade from an 85% to an 88%, then it was worth 100% (see, a 85 and an 88 would have averaged to somewhere in between, probably a 86 or so). There was probably another assignment that was inserted along with the final, worth a significant amount and graded above 88%. Just check your math.

I'm almost positive this isn't accurate, because I had an avg. grade of an 85% in one class, took the final worth (10%--got an 88% on it) and it raised my grade to an 88%.
It's saying I would need 115% on the final to get an 88% in the class...

Is this thing 100% accurate? I am currently getting 42.37/70= 62.28%. Final is worth 30% so its saying I need 22% on the final to pass...seems easy but math/microeconomic is NOT my strong subject. I just want to pass the course which means I would need a 50% overall....I hope this calculator is assurate!
