Hi, I don't really know my overall grade in class but so far I've gotten an 85 on a quiz and an A on a writing assignment. Now, those two things were worth 10%. I need to take my midterm that is 15% and I wanna know how much I need to get and still pass my class. There's 2 writing assignments coming up that are worth 20%, a project of another 20% and my final of 15%.

Roger: Exciting! These tips worked for me, but your milage may vary: (1) Don’t take notes. It’s a waste of effort, since you can always look stuff up later. (2) Don’t do your homework until you’ve already mastered the material. It’s much faster this way, and you’ll have to study eventually anyway, so might as well do it first.

I’m gonna get a 0 on an assignment I didn’t do for homework, and it’s in the Classwork category which is 40% of my grade. I currently have a 91% in this class and I’m wondering how far my grade will drop.

Roger: It depends on how many points your assignment is worth and how many classwork points you have already. Also, do you have any empty categories in your grade? (For example, a “participation” category that has no score yet.)
