I also like, and agree with your post about "Mobile technology in the modern age."

SUPERB. It does bother me that most people would rather turn to their phones than to be engaged with having fun with their friends. How do you reckon we become more "mature" to handle the development of technology?

Roger: Lol hi Spencer. I don’t believe any of the crap that I write. Technology is great!

Do you ever still use HTML? Or is that outdated

Roger: Haha, HTML is not outdated. The web standards get updated periodically with new specs.

how do you make a program that can calculate a set equation, then one just punches in the numbers and the number theyre looking for comes out, like the final grade calculator

thanks for the email/update man, although i got confused as soon as i looked at the formula you provided, i'm grateful for your help anyway :)

the final is worth 25%
the tests (6) are worth 12.5% each
99
64.75
110
100.05
105
105.3

the final replaces the lowest one (64.75), so i guess it counts as an additional 12.5% of my grade? i suck at math i have no idea lol, from your calculator i see i need like a 62 so hopefully itl work out :) thanks again for trying to help me lol but your explanation goes way over my head xD.

If you really want to know what you need on the final, you will need to find some extra information:

1. What percent of your overall grade is your tests category worth?
2. How many points were possible in the test category?
3. How many points did you get in your test category? (Before the worst test grade is removed)
4. How many points did you get on your worst grade?
5. How many points in the test category is your final worth? (Assuming in the test category, your worst test grade and your final grade are worth the same.)
6. What is your current overall grade?
7. You told me that your final grade category was worth 25%.
8. What grade do you want in the class?

Let the following variables be assigned to the values above, respectively.

1. T (as a fraction of 1. for example, 0.5)
2. P
3. t
4. w
5. p
6. O (as a fraction of 1. for example, 0.92)
7. F=.25
8. G

Also, let f be the percentage you need on your final.

Then,

Ff + T(P-w+pf) + ((O - Tt) / (1 - T))(1-T-F) = G

The first term is your Final category's contribution. The second term is your Test category's contribution. In the third term, you extrapolate the rest of the raw grade using the variables, and assign it a weight of (1-T-F). As you can see, the total weight is F + T + 1 - T - F, which is 1.

Solving for f, you get

G - ((O - Tt) / (1 - T))(1-T-F) - T(P-w) = Tpf + Ff

f = (G - ((O - Tt) / (1 - T))(1-T-F) - T(P-w)) / (Tp + F)

Therefore, find the values you need above and put them into this equation. You will then find f, the percentage you need on your final.

Make sure to follow the order of operations. It will change the answer if you don't.

Hope this helped.

how would you calculate your final grade if your final exam replaced your lowest test grade as a new test with the grade of the final, and also counted as a 25% of your grade final exam in addition to counting as a new test replacing the lowest test grade.
