Last semester I procrastinated like shit and failed a class. My GPA was decentish, so it wasn't a big deal, but still sucked. Did summer classes this semester, thinking I would've learned my lesson, but no. Probably going to fail both of my online classes, and not even due to not knowing the material. My GPA might drop below a 3.0. Every semester we tell ourselves that this time will be different; that we won't procrastinate. But it's always a lie. Human nature is unavoidable.

@'pain' comment, wherever you are in life right now, focus on your goal to get yourself out of it, no matter what it takes. You'll be able to enjoy your life the way you want, how you want. Even if getting your diploma is not an option. Sure, life is hard, and most jobs require post secondary education, but the job market is trucked now anyways. Work your bass off and save your money and grow and learn and do what makes you happy! The stress of school certainly doesn't help, but I've been in that dark hole where school made me consider if I'm worth anything in life. I have learned that I am. I took a few years, picked a career path while still working at my retail job for 5 years. I am not finished yet and neither are you, none of us are. It's only the beginning and you can look back and be proud of what you've made yourself. There's no rulebook on how to live your life.

every semester i come back here and wonder why i put myself in these situations, why i just cant not procrastinate. every semester we lie to ourselves by saying "this year will be different" and find ourselves back here. good luck everyone i hope to not stumble back here again, that not of us do. it is in all of our interests to never meet here again. good luck on your degrees if that's what you choose to do, im sure my professors know i need luck.

Covid messed up all almost all of my grades, they all dropped at least 10%, especially math,dropped 20% this year and Im currently on the verge of barely passing physics by a couple %. Tired of this crap i'd rather live in the wilderness with a dog or something.

Pain, I'd like to say something to you. When we were all living in the jungle, if someone was born with a genetic predisposition for depression, or anxiety, they'd just get eaten by a wild animal and that would be the end of it.

Hey Dana, you are wrong. All that matters is getting the grade in the most efficient manner. The school doesn't care whether you understand the material or not. If you have the highest gpa then you are valedictorian. The colleges won't know how much you actually learned, so it doesn't matter. All that matters is the A, and time you spent learning something could have been spent playing sports and doing clubs and volunteering.

Thank you for this great tool. I use it to help lower test anxiety around final exams. My students often get really freaked out. The one piece of feedback I would like to add is to change the feedback of “you don’t need to bother studying.” Studying is super important— no matter where your score is at. Could it change to something like “Breathe easy! Even if your score 0%, you will have your target final grade!” This conveys a much better message to younger students who may take the current feedback literally. Studying for math finals, for example, is an incredibly important piece of the process. Students must do this so that the learning from the course embeds itself into the long term memory. Bringing together concepts that bridge the unit tests together is also important. All students at any grade must adequately prepare regardless of what the grade says. The mark is meaningless. What does ultimately matter is the understanding of the learning.

I feel so alone. The crushing weight of the world is finally just becoming too much to handle. The stress, anxiety, and depression have all culminated into what is a nightmarish hell every waking moment of my life, only escapable through sleep. Sometimes it truly feels as though it just isn't worth it anymore. All that's left to keep me going is this beautiful comment section and Roger's sheer talent. God bless you, Roger.
