I have a 61% in English and their is a project that is worth 150 points let's say I get a 0/150 what will it bring it down too and what would I need on my final exam it's 20% of my grade to get a 60% or higher I don't want a F. English is my worst subject

Roger: It depends on how much your 150 point project is worth. Do you have a projects category? Are there any other projects in it?

My grading is: 3 best tests: 3 x 18% = 54%
final exam: 26%
laboratory: 20%

if i have 2 40's for 2/3 tests, a 90 in lab, and get at least a 60 on the final, what is the 3rd test grade that I need in order to get at least a 64 in the class?

Roger: You’ll need at least a 88.9% on your 3rd test to get a 64% overall, assuming that you get exactly a 60% on the final.

I have a huge essay coming up. Can you tell me how much my grade will drop if I got a zero.
It is worth 200 points
the weight of the category is 30%:I have an 83.33% right now in that category THIS IS THE ONE WITH THE TEST THE 30% CATEGORY
another category is 35%: i have a 75% right now in that category
another category is 15%: i have a 91% right now in that category

Please answer and thank you so much.

Roger: Your percentages only add up to 80%. Is there another 20% final exam category? I’ll also need to know how many points there are in your 30% category total.

If you have a 55 and get an 80 on your final exam what would your grade be?

Roger: It depends on how much the final exam is worth.

Thank you so much Roger for creating this resource. I've used it through the good grades and the bad ones over the last several years. I'll be graduating next winter, hope you get to graduate soon too. Best wishes.

Roger: You’re welcome!

I have a 89% will 40 points of extra credit bring it to a 90%?

Roger: It depends on how many points you have total. Can you provide that?

My grade is a 50%, I know its bad, and I get a 100% on a summative test which is worth 90% of my grade what would my grade be?

Roger: Is that single test worth 90% of your grade? Or do you have a Tests Category, where many tests are altogether worth 90% of your grade? If it’s the first case, then your overall grade would be a 95%. If it’s the second case, I also need to know your test average and how many tests you’ve taken. (Also, are all of your tests worth the same amount?)

My overall grade right now is 69 percent. I had taken a quiz and gotten a 83 percent. What does my overall grade bring it up too?

Roger: It depends on how much that quiz is worth.

If I have a 66.79 in a class and need to pass with at least 74.50 (to round up to a 75) and my final is worth 40% of my grade, what do I need to make to pass?

Roger: You’ll need at least a 86.07% on the final to get a 74.50% overall.

Hi,
So If I have a 88% right now as my current overall grade, and the next assignment is worth 50 point, what do i need to get on that assignment to get my grade to be a 90% or higher?

Roger: It depends on how many points you have total. Can you provide that number?

Ok, so if my Homework is worth 20%, Presentation is 10%, Midterm 30%, Final 40% & I GOT: 82.26% on HW, 95% on presentation, 67% on Midterm, 66% on Final + 5% Extra credit, did I pass?

Roger: Your overall grade is a 77.45% (before the 5% extra credit, it was a 72.45%). Whether you passed depends on what percentage you need to pass. I’m also assuming that your 5% extra credit applies to your entire grade, not just your final exam. Let me know if that assumption is incorrect.

i got a 52 and a 70 on my tests and my average is a 79%. tests are worth either 25% or 15% im not sure. i have two more tests left for the quarter. what do i need to get on those tests to get at least an 80% average by the end of the quarter please help

Roger: Thanks for telling me you have two tests left. That was an important detail that you didn’t mention earlier. If it’s worth 25%, you’ll need to average at least a 69% on the remaining 2 tests to get an 80% overall. If it’s worth 15%, you’ll need to average at least a 74.3% on the remaining 2 tests to get an 80% overall.

Roger, are you becoming a bit of a smartass? :) I just wanted to thank you so much for all of your work. I could plug in numbers for ages and get what my grade could be, but it's so much easier to come here. Your UC admissions calculator is also nice too. I hope you have had fun with this website and all of these comments (oh man, all of these comments). That you read them, and help the people that post their grades in here is truly dedication. Good luck once you graduate, you seem like you'll do just fine in the real world. Thank you!

Roger: Haha, thanks for the encouragement.

If I have a 52 in the class what do I need to get on my next two tests worth 60% to get a 70? And What do I need to get next quarter to get an A if my final exam is worth 20 percent?

Roger: It depends on how much your test category is worth, how many tests you’ve taken so far, and your current test average.

If I currently have a 80.46% for a class and have a test worth 15% of my grade, what grade do i need to get on the test to stay above a 70%?

Roger: It depends if you have any empty categories in your grade (like any other tests? or a final exam category?) If you don’t, then you’ll need to get at least a 10.73% on the test to get a 70% in the class.

Hello fellow Golden Bear. I used this website when I was in high school - the messages telling me I need a 30% on the Final to get an A were pretty funny! "Maybe you could just draw a flower on the test or something." lol!

Roger: I’m glad you found it useful!

holy shit, this paper is worth so little of my grade that I would have to get a -40% to get an A- in the class, or a -190% to get a B, or a -1000% to fail. i would just write "go fuck yourself" and turn it in, but i actually like this teacher and he doesnt deserve that.

said i only needed a 54% to get a 86 in the class......i was at 91 and i got a 71 and it took me to an 86......the final was worth 15% so the calculator was wrong by 20%

Roger: If your final was actually worth only 15%, then your final grade should be a 88.0%. You can do the calculation yourself: just type in (0.91 × 0.85) + (0.71 × 0.15) into a calculator. In this expression, we’re multiplying your current grade (91%) with “85%”, because the final itself constitutes the remaining 15%. Then, we’re multiplying your final exam grade (71%) with “15%”. Finally, we add up the two numbers to get your overall score (88.0%). So, either your original numbers were wrong or you misunderstood how your grade was actually calculated (or your teacher made a mistake?).

Hi Roger,

I just want to say thank you for your amazing final grade calculator program. It has helped me through countless finals, especially being on a trimester system. From assuring myself that I can keep a grade, to just reading the comments to let me know that I'm not alone in the struggle of school. Keep up the great work and I hope your studies at UC Berkeley are going well.

Best Regards,
Alex

Roger: You’re welcome! I’m graduating this Spring.

This is part to of my original comment

I have a 47% in science class and I got a 87 on a test, and tests/AKA assessments are weighted 40%. Whats my average gonna be when my teacher adds in the 87 on my test? Also in class we do these things called warm ups before class and the highest you can get on each section is 20% ( There are 5 sections, so if u get 20% ( which is the highest percent you can get for each section ) for each section that's 100 points total ) If I get a 100 on my warmup ( Warm ups are worth either 10 or 50 weighted percent ) Plus my 87 on my test what will my average be?

Roger: What do you mean by “either 10 or 50 weighted percent”? Is it 10%? Or is it 50%? Also, see my response to your previous comment.
