I have all my points added up for activities and project assignments but cannot figure the exam points as each exam was given back based on 100% calculation. How do I transpose a grade of 86% to the 6 points allocated for that one exam? I have two exam grades and the last to be given next week.

Roger: An 86% would be 5.16 out of 6. To calculate that yourself, you just take 0.86 and multiply it with 6.

That may be a 100 and a 91, or a 95 and a 96.

Hi Roger, I've been using your calculator for years and it's been so helpful! I've never had an issue with figuring out what I needed before, but I need help with this one.
My finance class is on a point system, with a total of 700 points. 200 of that are 2 reports, and the other 500 are 5 tests, meaning that the final has the same point value of a normal test. This is my point break down:
Report 1: 100
Test 1: 96
Test 2: 92
Test 3: 72
Report 2: not yet, but assume I get 100
Test 4: not yet
Test 5 (final): not yet
What do I need to get on test 4 and 5 to get a 93% in the class? My prof doesn't round up from 92.5%.

Hello! I would like to get a 74 (or higher) in my English class. My grades right now are as follows:
Classwork and Homework is 10% of my overall grade. I have 196 out of 229 points, which results in an 85.58%.
Quizzes are 10% of my overall grade. I have 14 out of 33 points, which results in a 34.93%
Chapter Exams are 65% of my overall grade. I have 74.5 out of 200 points, which results in a 37.25%.
There are 3 100-point chapter exams left in this semester, as well as the final exam, which is 15% of my overall grade.
My current grade is a 43.72%. Is it possible for me to reach a 74 in this class by doing well on the remaining 4 exams? (If so, what scores do I need on them?)

On the last test I got a 54% and I had a 72% in the class. With the HW added in my grade went up to a 74%. We then took a test which rose my grade up to a 78% but I do not know what I got on it. The tests are worth 35% of your grade

Roger: To compute the exact answer, I need to know your current test average and how many tests you’ve taken. But without those numbers, I can provide some estimates that might help. If your grade went from a 74% to a 78% because of 1 test, then that means your test average increased by roughly 11%. Let’s say your current test average is a 55% and you’ve taken a total of 4 tests (including the latest one). That would mean that you got roughly a 99% on the test.

If I have a 57%in my class and I got a zero on an assignment worth 15%. What does that make my average ?

I have a 76.1% right now. My next exam is worth 20 points, assessments as a whole counting towards/for 70% of my grade. I have a 73.86/100 (73.9%) towards assessments at the moment. What would I need to get on my next exam (percentage) to have my grade go up from 71.6% to 89.6%?

If so, then you’ll need to get at least a 189.57% (37.9/20) on your next exam to get an 89.6% overall. If you want a 79.6% instead, you’ll need to get at least a 103.86% (20.8/20) on the next exam.

I have an 88 right now in the third quarter, the fourth quarter will start from the next week. The grade breakdown is q3=40% q4=40% and final=20% (total 100%). How many points do i need to get in the fourth quarter so that I have to get a 90 or less in the final but still have an A overall in the class.

an A is anything above a 90.

For example, if there are 1000 points available, then you’ll need to get 920/1000 to get a 92% on your 4th quarter.

How do you calculate an overall grade when you have grades broken down in percentages? Example: mid-term is 15% of my overall grade but I have a 80% on midterm and 85% overall

Roger: You just need to multiply each grade with the corresponding weight. Remember to convert percentages to decimals first. For example, you would multiply 0.80 by 0.15 for your midterm category. Once you have products for each of the categories, just sum them to get the overall grade.
