If I have a 58% what would i need to score on my test to raise it up

Roger: You can improve your grade by scoring anything higher than a 58%, assuming that you have no grade categories. Did you want to raise your grade to some particular threshold?

I have a 93 in my chem lab. Each lab and the lab practical is worth 15% of my grade. What is the lowest grade I can make on the practical and still pass the lab class? All together there are a total of 10 assignments.

Roger: What minimum overall grade do you need to pass your class? And if there are 10 assignments each worth 15% of your grade, then that adds up to 150%. Are there any other components of your grade besides your labs?

Okay someone help if my professor grades as
56% on exams 14% each
4% on homework
25% on lab
15% final
And so far my test are 41 and 45 what do I need to score i my other two test and final and do i need exact points on my lab and homework to get a C average?

Roger: Assuming you get at least a 95% on your homework and labs, you’ll need to average at least a 70.7% on your remaining 2 tests and final exam to get a 70% overall.

Ok so my final grade is broken into 2 parts, a 30% presentation & a 70% exam. I got 22/30 in my presentation, so that's 74%. What do I need to get in my exam to pass the class?
Thanks!

Roger: Believe it or not, different schools have different requirements to determine if a student passes a class. Sometimes, even different courses at the same school can have different requirements to pass. So, the answer depends on the minimum passing grade that your particular instructor demands. Once you find out, post a followup comment and I’d be happy to help.

I have a 60% on A Test and a 73% on another I have 2test left. test ar worth 60% of my grade what do i need to get on those test to pass with atlest a 70%

Roger: Do you want a 70% test average? Or do you want a 70% overall grade? Your current test average is 66.5%. If you want a 70% test average, then you’ll need to score at least a 73.5% on your remaining 2 tests. If you want a 70% overall grade, then the answer depends on what the remaining 40% of your grade is made up of.

So, I have an 87 right now in math, and really want to get it up to at least a 90 or 91 before I have to take the final. I have two upcoming tests that are each worth 40% of my grade. My test average is a 83.2. What do I need to get on those tests, in order to all me to bring my grade up to where I would like it to be? Thank you

Roger: How many tests have you taken so far? Also, how much is your final exam worth? (Strange as it may be, the answer depends on how much your final is worth, even if you want a 90% or 91% before the final exam.)

Hey Rodger, I have an 86.9 in my advanced math class. My test average is a 88. If a get a 100 on my next test will I have an a.

Roger: Well, it depends on how much your test category is worth, as well as how many tests you’ve taken and whether you have any empty categories in your grade (like a “participation” category that has no score yet).

Dang tho!!!!!

Dear Roger,
I have a 93 for my social studies grade. I have 3 things that she has not graded yet. First I have a project that is 35% of my grade. Next, I have a test that is also 35%. Lastly, I have a quiz that is 20%. What do I have to get on all three of them to maintain a 90 in Social Studies. Thank you so much!

Roger: It depends on how many projects, tests, and quizzes you’ve already completed. Also, what did you score on those projects, tests, and quizzes? And what’s the remaining 10% of your grade made up of?

Hi again! My grade in AP has since risen to an 82, because my teacher put a worksheet (on which I scored a 100) in as a test grade. To summarize, I've technically taken 5 (out of 7) tests, 1 of which has yet to enter the grade book. I've taken 3 (With an assumed 2 to 3 left this semester) short answer/DBQ/essay questions, 1 of which has yet to enter as well. Tests/quizzes weigh 45%, essays/etc weigh 20%, classwork weighs 15% and the final is 20%. My avg in tests is 81, essays is 71, classwork is 98. What do I need on the remaining tests, essays and the final to get an A?

Roger: Is your worksheet supposed to be a test grade? Or is that a mistake that needs to be corrected? Anyway, you’ll need to average between 98.4% and 99.7% on your remaining tests, essays, and final exam to get a 90% overall. The exact answer depends on exactly how many essays you have remaining.

I have a 79 in English. if I get a zero which is worth 60% of my grade can I keep it from a F if I do get on aonther two assignments like it.

Roger: Probably, yes? I can’t give you an exact answer without knowing how much those assignments are individually worth (e.g. what other assignments are in that 60% category?). But consider that if you get one zero and two full scores (100%), that averages out to 66.7%.

Hi roger. I have a 55 in math and need a 70 final is 20 percent of my grade and tests and quizzes together are 60 percent. What will I need on my tests to get a 70 if I get 100 on the rest of my 5 quizzes?

Roger: It depends on how many tests and quizzes you’ve taken so far, as well as what you scored on them. Also, how much are quizzes worth in comparison to tests? And what is the remaining 20% of your grade made up of?

In order for you to pass calculus you need to get a 72% on the next two tests bearing that your lowest grade is replaced by the final.

Trying to decide if I can make it through Calc this semester. I need a 70% (C-) minimum overall to pass the class.

Grades are weighted as such:
Exams: 45%
Final Exam: 25%
The final exam also replaces the lowest test score (so you get the same score for two tests)

My Current Grades are:
Exam 1: 64.25
Exam 2: 43.75
Exam 3: Not Taken
Final: Not Taken

What is the percent that I should get on the last to tests to pass the class?

Roger: What’s the remaining 30% of your grade? I’ll assume you have a 30% “homework” category and that you’ll get 100% on your homework. In that case, you’ll need to average at least a 55.2% on your 2nd test and final exam to get a 70% overall.

I had a quiz that is worth 50% of my final grade I failed the quiz and only got 46 out of 100 questions. What is the percentage I will get for this quiz? If I have passed my other assignments will this quiz make a massive difference? Please help

Roger: Well 46 out of 100 is 46%. How many quizzes have you taken so far? And what’s your test average? What’s the other 50% of your grade made up of?

i posted last time about my spanish grade, and here's some clarifications---

i've had 2 tests so far, each worht 50 points. i've had 10 quizzes, and the worth is different on each quiz but they are around 20 points on average. there have been 10 participation grades.

we'll have about 2 more tests in the future, 4 more quizzes and 6 more participation grades. i'm sure i will get 100% in participation grades. If I got an average of 95% on the tests and quizzes, then what would my grade be before the final?

Roger: Well, you’ve completed 2×50 + 10×20 + 10×5 = 350 points worth of assignments so far. Your 2 remaining tests will be worth another 100 points. Your 4 remaining quizzes should be worth 80 points. And your participation grades (I’ll assume you have 5 more of these) should be worth another 50 points. Considering all of that, your overall grade should be around a 89.7% before the final exam (since your last comment said your current overall grade is an 85.5%).

**update on previous comment

sorry if it was confusing haha
in the syllabus, there are 7 categories, but of the 7, the Quizzes category, Final Exam category and Projects category doesn't have any assignments inputted or any percentages as of now. I wrote what the categories were worth last semester as a reference, but obviously this semester when my teacher inputs how much each category is worth, the worth/percentage of the other categories would change since added together they should be 100%.

We've had 3 tests so far, each worth 100 points, and the tests category worth 73.3% of our grade. There will be around 3-4 tests remaining in the semester. We've had 7 dice quizzes so far, each worth 5 points but there is one extra credit point on each quiz (so we can get 120% on a dice quiz). There'll be around 10 more of the dice quizzes left.

What will I need to get in the tests category to maintain an A?

Roger: Do you mean that the weight of each category is proportional to how many points are in it? In that case, your grade categories are meaningless. You can figure out your overall grade just by adding up your points. Without knowing exactly how many points will be in each category at the end of the semester, you can’t calculate what you need to score on tests or any other single category to get a 90% overall. However, if your current grade is 90% and you want a 90% overall, then it’s easy to see that you’ll just need to score an average of 90% on your remaining assignments. Hope this helps!

In my honors math class, I currently have a 98.1 average.
I have taken two quizzes. First quiz I got a 100 and second I got a 90. Each quiz is weighted at 30% of the grade.
I have also taken two mini projects and have scored hundreds on those. They are weighted at 15% of my grade.
I have three homework grades, and have gotten hundreds on those as well. They are weighted as 5% of my grade.
I have taken 1 test, and gotten a 100 on it. Tests are weighted at 50% of my grade.
I just recently took a test, and I feel like I did poorly. In my mind, I feel as if I got around an 80. If so, what would my new grade be if I received and 80 on this test? Also, can you put how you solved this? Thank you.

Roger: Based on your individual category grades, your current grade should be a 98.5%, not a 98.1%. Anyway, your overall grade should drop by 5 percentage points. That would bring your grade down to a 93.5% (or a 93.1%, if you can explain why your current overall grade is a 98.1%). The trick to solving this is to consider what happens to your test category average after your 2nd test. Since you’ve only taken one test so far, your new test average should be the average of 100% and 80%, which is 90%. Since your test category is worth 50% of your overall grade (and you have no empty categories in your grade), a 10% drop in your test average translates to a 5% drop in your overall grade.

I got 12/50 in my mid semester exams and the weightage is 40% for exams and the passing percentage is also 40% so how much do I need to get in my final exams to pass.

Roger: Well, 12/50 is a 24%. Assuming that your final exams comprise the remaining 60% of your grade, you’ll need to score at least a 50.7% on your final exams to raise your grade to a 40%.

My daughter got 88% in part 1 of a 2 part exam. The 88% relates to 25 points (part 1) of the overall exam. Presumably 75 points remain (total of 100% in percentage terms). What percentage does she need to achieve in the second part of the exam in order to achieve an overall final 70% minimum? Does she need to achieve around 56%?

Roger: Is your goal to get a 70% overall grade? Or a 70% average on the 2 parts of the exam? I’ll assume it’s the latter. In that case, you’ll need to score at least a 64% on the 2nd part of the exam to get a 70% average.

I've got 64% on a 15% assignment, 69% on a 15% assignment, however i missed a 15% exam completely. There is still a 20% exam, 20% paper and 15% assignment left. What do i have to get on each of them (lowest) to get at least 51% in my final grade?

Thank you so much.

Roger: Your current overall grade should be a 44.3%. You’ll need to average at least a 56.5% on your 20% exam, 20% paper, and 15% assignment to get a 51% overall.

I currently have a 91% in one of my classes. I totally bombed a test and got a 27% but my teacher told me it'll only weigh in to be 4% of my final grade. With that test included I was wondering what my new average would be given there was no other tests?

Roger: It sounds like you have a “tests” category, which is worth a big chunk of your grade, but the test you bombed is only worth a small portion of that category. Right? In that case, the answer depends on (1) how much that tests category is worth and (2) whether you have any empty categories in your grade (like a “final exam” category that has no score yet). And just to be clear, you’ve only take one test so far right?

Hey Roger. I need your help please... I have 9 (small) tests that are each worth like 10% of my grade. For 8 of them I got 100% and 1 I got 80%. But for my semester test I got 40%, assuming the test is worth 20, maybe 25% of my grade. And I also have a project ( again assuming it's worth 20, or 25%) that I haven't obtained marks for yet, so how much would I need on my project to get at least 70?

Roger: If you have 9 tests that are each worth 10% of your grade, then that adds up to 90%, which means only 10% remains for your semester test and project. I’ll assume your tests are each worth 6% instead, and that your semester test and project are each worth 23% of your grade. In that case, your current overall grade should be a 80.5%. You’ll need to score at least a 34.8% on your project to get a 70% overall.

I have a 90.0% in Biology right now.
Classwork/HW: 100% and worth 12.2% of our grade.
Labs: 91.7%, worth 5.9% of grade
Tests: 85.3%, worth 73.3% of grade
Quizzes: nothing inputted as of now and was worth 1.8% during first semester. I had a 100 in this category last time.
Dice Quizzes: 114.3%, worth 8.6% of grade
Projects: we only had one project which he has yet to grade. This category was worth 4.4% last semester.
Final Exam: 15% of grade

We have 3 and maybe even 4 tests remaining, with maybe 10-20 more Dice Quizzes. I think I got a low-B on my 50-point project (only project of the semester).

We also have a replacement practice final that replaces our lowest test grade. My lowest test grade is a 80% right now, and we have had 3 tests so far. I predict to get some sort of A on this replacement exam.

What will I have to average in tests when taking into consideration this practice final? What will I need to average in my test category to end with for a 90%, and for a 95% overall, assuming I get a 90% on my final exam.

thx

Roger: Your categories add up to 121.2%. Those percentages seem rather odd to me. Where do they come from? Are they literally written like that on the course syllabus? Anyway, your practice final should raise your overall grade about 0.5 percentage points (assuming you score a 90%). How many tests and dice quizzes have you taken so far?

Hey Roger-

English overall grade is 86.7%.

Exams: worth 25% of my grade, average in exams is 94%.
Quizzes: worth 10%, my average is 90.9%.
Writing: worth 30%, average of 72.9%.
Homework/Classwork: worth 10%, average of 98.3%.
Participation: worth 10%, average of 93.8%
Final: 15% of grade.

I have a 20-point writing assignment missing, which I made up. I'll probably get at least a 80% on it. (This dropped my grade 6.8%.)
I also have a 3-point homework assignment she forgot to upload, so I'll get a 100% on that. (This dropped my grade 0.1%.)

So my question for you is:
1. What will my overall grade be once the missing assignments are updated?
2. What will I have to average in Final, Exams, Quizzes and Writing categories to end with a 90%, or a 95%?

Appreciate the help! :)

Roger: Well, according to your numbers, your grade after the missing assignments are updated should be 86.7% + 6.8% + 0.1%, which is 93.6%, right? If your grade dropped by 6.8% when your writing assignment was misgraded, then your writing category average should have been a 95.6% before the incident. Does that sound correct?

My Spanish grade is an 85.5% as of now.

Our Tests/Quizzes/Participation/Citizenship is all in one category which counts for 80% of our grade. The other 20% is the Final Exam.

Each of our tests is worth 50 points, and I usually get between the 85-95% range.
Each of our quizzes is worth around 20 points, I got a mid-A on all of them except one, where I got an F, so that brought my grade down significantly.
Participation/Citizenship grades are given weekly, and are worth 5 points, and I have always gotten a 100% on this.

We have 3 more tests left and around 6 more quizzes, plus the Final.

What do I need to get on tests and what do I need to get on quizzes in order to end with an A (90%)?

Thanks as always!

Roger: How many tests, quizzes, and participation grades do you have so far? I’ll assume you already finished 3 tests, 5 quizzes, and 10 participation grades. I’ll also assume you have about 10 more participation grades in the future, and that you’ll get 100% on all of them. In that case, you’ll need to average at least a 93.1% on your next 3 tests and 6 quizzes if you want to raise your grade to a 90% before the final exam.

Grading for Math 50% Test 20% mathlab 30% Final
I have taken 3 test but i have yet not received the third grade so for right now my average is 94.5
based on my first two test which are 108 and 81 third? but i think i did bad on the third so my professor will drop it. if i get on the next 2 test at least 80s my average will be a 87.25 which is good for me but on the mathlab which is 20% i will not be doing it how much can it affect me and as well how much on my final will i need to at least pass the class thanks!

Roger: If you get a zero on your 20% “mathlab” category, your grade should drop by about 22-25%, depending on exactly what you score on your next 2 tests. It might seem strange that your grade would drop by more than 20%, since the category itself is only worth 20%. That’s because, without your final exam, your mathlab category is actually worth 28.6% (e.g. 20/70) of your grade. If you want to know what you’ll need to get on your final exam to pass the class, then I need to know the minimum overall grade required to pass.
