Hi roger! I currently have an 82 in the class (I am in college) and I want to end up with at least a 70 so I pass. What would I need to make to at least get a 70. Final exam is 20% of my grade.

Roger: You need a 22% on the final exam.

Hi Roger! My grade in geometry is going to be a 89% after extra credit and my final is worth 20% of my grade. What do I have to get on my final to get at least a 90%?

Roger: Do you have more precise numbers? If you have an 89.00% in the class and you need a 90.00%, you’d need a 94.00% on the final exam.

I have an 87.34 in my trig class. I know I'm not going to get an A, but I have a test I am taking tomorrow before my final and I want to keep my grade above a 79.5 and tests make up 70% of my grade and this will be my 10th test in the class. What do I need to get on the test to stay above 79.5?

Roger: It depends on your current test average, but most likely, you will only need a very low percentage to maintain a 79.5%.

This is a neat little service you provide and I'm glad I found it. I LOVE the messages ie. maybe you could draw a flower on the test or something, etc. I was stressed about a final exam and the message made me laugh, I needed that. Good or bad, the messages are hilarious. Thanks

Roger: You’re welcome!

Does it change if the final is curved?

Roger: Yes, definitely.

The comments I'm talking about are the ones that come in the little messages telling you what the grade is. i.e. don't even bother studying, you're pretty much screwed, those types of comments. They're unnecessary and make you look like a callous prick. That is what I'm referring to.

Roger: I toned them down a bit. Most people find the comments humorous, and you’re the first one to ever complain.

If I got a 30% on my quiz and my quiz is 5% of my grade and my weighted grade for quizzes is 90% and my grade in the class is an 88.76%. What will that quiz change my grade to?

Roger: It depends on how many quizzes you have taken so far. For example, if you have taken 7 quizzes so far, your grade will go down to a 88.39%.

"Well there's this website called RogerHub that's good for telling you what you need to get on your final, but he's kinda mean and the messages he gives aren't exactly the most encouraging thing in the world."

Roger: Oh.. If you’re looking for encouragement, feel free to send me an email about what’s wrong in your academic career, and I will send you all the encouragement I can. (Some people think the messages are humorous..)

I have tooken 6 test and the average is 69 and then i have 2 more left and that should equal a total of 90 percent and 10 percent on the final i would like a 65 or 60 on the final

Roger: To get a 65%, you need to average a 56.7% on the remaining tests and the final exam. To get a 60%, you need to average a 41.3% on the remaining tests and the final exam.

Hey Roger, what do I need on my final (worth 20% of my grade) to get a 80% in class? My exam scores average to 85% in class (worth 75% of my grade). My homework and assignments equaled to 63% (missing assinments.) Now the last 5% is added at the end, I'm not sure how many points this would bring my grade up or down, since it won't take our exam or final grade down or affect it.

Roger: Your current grade is a 83.63%. You will need to get at least a 65.5% on the final in order to get an 80% overall.

Exam 2: 83.33%
Assignments : 1677 points/1680

Thanks!

Hi Roger!
So I'm trying to come up with a formula to use to calculate the number of points I need to get. Each assignment is worth 20% of my grade, and each assignment has a different number of points possible.
The goal is to be able to plug the formula into an Excel spreadsheet so I can type in the number of points I got on a particular assignment, and the formula will tell me how many points I still need to achieve on all the remaining assignments to get an A, and then another cell will tell me how many points I need to get a B, then another for C, etc. Any ideas?

Roger: Hi Cassie. You might be interested in this guide to using spreadsheets to calculate grades. If you want to create a formula similar to what this calculator uses, you can review the calculator’s formulae as well.

Not math, thought you could use a break ;)

I have a 77.84% in the class. I made an 82 on my final worth 15% and have a final paper worth 10%. What do I need to make on my paper to get an 80 in the class?

Roger: Your final brought your grade up to a 78.53%. In order to get an 80% overall, you will need to score at least 93.2% on the final paper.

I have a 77.3 and there are 723 points in the grade book. And I have a test this week that's worth 100 points and a final next week worth 20% of my grade. What do I need to get on the test and the final to have at least a 80% thanks.

Roger: You’ll need to average a 86.4% on the test and the final to get an 80% overall. Alternatively, you could get 90% on the test and 84.6% on the final, or 90% on the final and 78.9% on the test. Does that give you a rough idea about what you need to get on the remaining test and final?

I have a 61.44% which is and F in my nursing class I need 70% to pass. So my question to you is I have 4 assignments left 3 are worth 20pts which is 100% pass and my final paper is worth 100pts which is also 100% pass, so if I get all the points from these 4 assignments will I make it to the 70% mark. Please call you help me.

Roger: Hi there. How many points are there in the class overall? Those four assignments need to be worth at least 22.2% of your grade in order for them to bring your grade up to a 70%. In other words, your overall grade must not consist of more than 720 points in total.

Hi Roger,

First time user here and will keep your site definitely bookmarked/saved! I always have to look up the calculations and do them on my own which takes up my sweet study time (I am not a math major and do not enjoy doing math!!) So I want to personally say THANK YOU! I loved the comments at the end as well. For awhile I just put in scores just to see what they would say :) It was a great study break.

Thank you so much!! This is great!

Hey Roger,

I'd really appreciate it if you could clarify something for me. I had 87% at midterm. Between the midterm and the final exam, we did not have any quizzes or tests. The final is worth 20% of my final mark. I received 65% on that final exam. Now it says online my final mark is at 60%. How is that possible? Even if i had failed the exam horribly with a 0, I should've at least been at 65% no? Please message me back.

Thank you,
Jayson

Roger: You’re right. There’s no way that you would have a 60% overall unless you missed a couple of assignments somewhere. You should email your instructor about your grade.

If I have a 70 in a class right now and I want a B in the class for the semester what score would I have to get on the final (this is not including 10 extra credit TEST points which haven't been added to my quarter grade) I still have to take one last test worth 100 points

Roger: Can you tell me 1) how much your final category is worth, and 2) how many tests you have taken?

Roger: It depends on 1) how much your test category is worth, 2) how many tests you have taken, and 3) what your test average is. Can you provide those?
