Can you make a test replacement calculator where if you get a higher grade on the final, it increases your lowest test score.

Roger: Try out the calculator mode labeled “I need something else”. You can tell the calculator that (1) your lowest test score is dropped and (2) your final counts as 1 test score. That’s effectively the same as if your final replaced your lowest test score (assuming that you actually score higher on your final than your lowest test score).

Part A is out of 50 points and part B is out of 70 points

Roger: Well, 16% of 50 is 8, and 16% of 70 is 11.2. Does that help?

Hey roger, i have a 61% in my english class and i took the final which has 2 parts to it. what would i need to get a 47.5%. The exam is worth 30% of my overall grade which makes it worth 15% part a and 15% part b.

Roger: Sounds unlikely, but the exact answer depends on your current quiz average. Also, what is the other 40% of your grade made of? Try out the calculator mode labeled “I need something else”. It should be able to answer your question.

Summer school sucks

omg school is over, but i came back here to see what grade i'd need on the summer school midterm to get an A (like, a 74, i'm glad) and just for curiosity i checked using last year's french grade (a 110, i had a lot of extra credit ok) and to get a b in that class i would've needed a 10% lmaoo

Hello I have a 94.63 in my class at the moment. The final is worth a 100points I went over my time for the test and received a 0 what will my percentage grade be now?

I'm so sad I didn't make honour roll with distinction this grade 11 year, was 3 percent off from a 90 overall average... my average was 87% smh... :(

Roger: It depends on how much of your coursework you’ve completed so far. Also, is your test worth 20% of your grade by itself? Or is it part of a “tests” category that’s altogether worth 20% of your grade? What’s the other 80% of your grade made of?

I have an 88.65% in my class overall right now. I have 3 catagories in the grade: HW, Tests and Final. HW is work 15% of our grade, tests is 70%, and Final is worth 15%. My teacher will both drop the lowest test score I have and replace it with my final score, and put the final in. My lowest score is 74.4%, and my test catagory is 86.55%. If I wanted to get a 90 or a 91 overall, what would I need to get on the final to bump my grade up? Thanks

My current grade in my math class is a 79.2% which includes all of my quizzes, class work, and projects as of right now.. my final is next week and it is worth 35%... how much would I need to get on my final in order to pass it.. this is my ticket to graduate and my math teacher is kind of making it hard for me to guarantee graduate :( help. Any grade works that’s passing but I need to know an exact % so I can shoot for it as High as possible.

Soo I just took a test. The test had 75 questions. 72 of the questions were worth 1 point but the next 2 were worth 3 points and the essay was worth 18 points. My professor grades everything out of 100 percent though. I have a 79 in the class right now and the final is worth 30 percent. I’m not sure how to figure out how many points I need to get on the actual exam since 3 of the questions are weighted differently.

Roger: What’s overall grade do you want? For example, if you want an 80% overall, you’ll need to score at least a 82% on your final, which translates to 96×82% = 79 points (since there are 96 total points on your test).

I wanted to say, thank you so much for this site! I have debilitating test anxiety, usually, the stress significantly negatively affect my test/quiz grades (especially finals). hey roger! I should be able to calculate this by myself lol. But id like to find out what the two parts of my math exam came to (not the effect on my grade, just what the average is... if that makes sense)
On one part, that was worth 30 percent of the two parts, I got 85%
On the other part, that was worth 70 percent of the two parts, I got 98%
Considering their weights, what would is the average of my mark?
How would I figure this out? Lol thanks again you don't know how much this website has saved me.

So I’m taking my final tomorrow which is 30% of my grade, I’m currently at an 82.03%. My two other tests were midterms which were worth 40% of my grade the first one was 70/100 and the other 74/100. What can I get on my final to get a 70% overall grade? (Bc that’s passing)

Roger: Are your midterm grades already included in your “82.03%” overall grade? I’m not sure why you mentioned your midterm grades at all. In any case, it sounds like you’ll need to score at least a 41.9% on your final to get a 70% overall.

Because our summer break ends in the first week of September...

(Also because some of us are Canadian or non-american and have different school schedules)

I used advanced mode but I'm still uncertain since when I input the data a second time to be sure, I got a different answer. My trig class is made up of 3 categories. First category is tests and makes up 55% of my grade. There were three tests total. My scores on these tests were 92%,100% and 99%. Prof told us our lowest test score would be dropped. Second category is homework which is 10% of my grade. I received 100% for this category. Third category is the final which is worth 35% of my grade. I don't know my score on this yet. I want to receive at least a 90% in the class. What was the lowest score I could have received on the final in order to hold onto the A? The final was a bit of a itch, so I'm slightly sweating right now. Thanks, love!

Roger: Your current overall grade is a 97.5%. You’ll need to score at least a 76.1% on your final to get a 90% overall. The advanced mode doesn’t actually support the case where your final exam grade (if higher) replaces your lowest test grade. You can approximate it by telling the calculator that your final counts as 1 test and that your lowest test grade is dropped. But naturally, if your final score is even lower than your lowest test grade, then the grade replacement policy doesn’t take effect.

Hey Roger, I keep trying to calculate this myself but I cant. My tests are worth 75% of my grade. And I have gotten a 90,80,62, and a 70. If my final is worth 25% and if high enough replaces one of the lowest test grades, what do I need to get a 71 in the class? Final is tomorrow!

@RogerHub it's worth 40% by itself. My overall grade in English is 70% (C+) which is the other 60% of my mark.

Roger: In that case, if you get a 50% on your final, your overall grade should drop to a 62%.

I had a 86 in math and a 86 average for all of my courses. I got a 74 on my final which was worth 15 percent of my grade, my grade dropped to an 84 and my average dropped to a 85.666667 which rounds out to an 86. Honor role with distinction is no grade below 70 (which I dont have) and at least an 85% or higher of an average. Yay!

I have a 61.13 in the class overall. But I have made 100s on all 6 quizzes which are worth 6% of my grade and 100s on all 6 of my homework assignments which are worth 20% of my grade. What is my grade now and will I have to make on the final to have an A or B? The final is worth 37% of my grade.
