In response to an ap lang prompt on whether humans will go extinct soon, I wrote an entire essay about how extinction is inevitable, his wife will leave him for a Italian, his kid will die, and how "This paper, this class, human existence and eventual extinction do not matter in the grand scheme of geological time; instead one should seek a brief respite from the existential dread of the universe (Bieber)". I got a 90. The class average was an 80.

Currently, the full percentage has not come out but I had gotten 92% 1st 85% 2nd 85% 3rd and for the 4th it is so far 85% and the finals are worth 10% of our grade overall.

Roger: It sounds like your overall grade should be approximately 86.8%. In that case, you’ll need to score at least a 114.3% on your final to raise your overall grade to an 89.5%.

Discussions are worth 23% of my grade. I’m trying to figure out how much of my total grade I would lose per missed discussion. Each one is worth 2 points out of 40 total possible because there are 20 discussions. I can’t seem to figure out how to calculate it. Thank you!

Roger: It’s not a constant amount. For example, if you miss your first discussion, then you’d have a zero for your entire discussions category, which is worth 23%. But at the end of the year, each discussion should only be worth one-twentieth of 23% (e.g. 1.15%).
