1st cycle my grade was 81% of 100%
2nd cycle my grade was 87% of 100%

hi Roger, hope you’re having a good day. currently my algebra grade is a 100%. TESTS: 50% of the grade. QUIZES: 30% of the grade. HW: 20% of the grade. i have two tests completed with 100% on one, with a 95% on the other. i have three quizes completed, all with a 100%. i have 10 homework grades completed, all 100%. (so 15 grades total). recently i flunked a quiz. IF i were to get a 0% on that quiz, which would be my 16th grade, what would my overall final grade be? hope this isn’t too confusing. thank you, chloe

Roger: If you got a 95% on one of your tests, how can your overall grade by 100%? Anyway, if you score 0% on your 4th quiz, then your overall grade should drop from a 98.8% to a 91.3%.

Hi Roger. Okay so...
I am trying to find out something about my grade (obviously). I need to get an average of an A for this year in Algebra 2 (an A is a 90%, technically 89.5%), the average is determined from the two final semester grades. For the first semester, I made a 91.97%. Right now, for the second semester, I have an 89.72%. I still need to take the final, and that will be the only new grade before it is finalized. It is worth 15%. What is the lowest percentage I can possibly get on the final, and still average an A for the year?

Roger: Well, the average of 91.97% and 89.72% is about 90.85%. So, you’ll need to score at least 81.9% on your final to get a 89.5% overall.

I have a 73.94 in math currently. If I get a 50 on my math test, what will my grade drop to? (Test is worth 75% of my grade)

Roger: You’re not the first to ask about this. In fact, RogerHub had comment replies briefly, a long time ago. I have a couple concerns about user interface (mobile scrolling through pages that have too many touch targets is hard) and technical implementation, but my primary concern is that comment replies opens up the door to harassment. It’s currently quite hard to keep up a conversation via RogerHub comments, due to the rate limiting and the fact that your replies get drowned out by the constant noise of other comments. This is very much intentional. I’ve tried to avoid providing any mechanism for visitors to send feedback directly toward any other visitor, because I think it dramatically undercuts both volume and abuse. There are plenty of other places on the internet that offer comment replies (for example, <insert the name of every social network here>). I don’t feel the need to become yet another one. After all, RogerHub is just a blog. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion and let me know if you have any questions.

We have 3 things left:
Participation 10 percent (should get all 10 I'd think)
Research journal 5 percent (I got a 98 percent but it isn't in the grade book yet)
Then our final coming up worth 25 percent.

With the roughly 15 percent in the grade book what would that make my 91.6?

After that final grade added, what do I need to get on my 25 percent final to still have an a. I'm holding a 4.0 so it's really important to me!

Roger: Did you mean that you have 4 tests total? Or that you have 4 more tests? Is each test worth one quarter (or one fifth?) of your overall grade? Is there anything else in your grade aside from your tests?

My strategy so far has just been to work though problems systematically: spend time identifying individual problems and make a list of concrete steps you can do to improve the situation.
