I got 40% in an exam worth 25% of my grade. There are two more exams in this class: One worth 25% and the other worth 45%. 5% of my grade is for attendance. What is the highest final letter grade I can get in this test?

Roger: Assuming you score 100% on your next two exams and your attendance, you should be able to raise your overall grade to a 85.0% (B).

Roger, Its God again. So my chemistry teacher told me that if I made a nobel prize winning discovery he would give me extra credit I need for an A. Ideas?

Roger: Figure out what chemicals Obama uses to turn frogs gay. That’s worth a nobel prize for sure.

This is referring to my question i just posted. Homework is worth 20% and i have a 99.78% average. Quizes are worth 20% and i have a 95.56% average. In case you needed more information to answer the question.

Roger: Thanks for that additional information. But I still need to know how many tests you’ve taken so far (excluding your most recent test grade). If you’ve taken no more than 1.06 tests, your overall grade should go up to a 90%. If you’ve taken no more than 1.89 tests, your overall grade should go up to a 89.5%. In practice, both of these values round down to 1 test. If only taken 1 test so far (for a total of 2 tests), then your overall grade should go up to 90.06%. Hope this helps.

I have an 88.24% in my AP Language and Composition class. I just got an 88 on a test grade, and my test grade average is an 81.96%. Test grades are worth 60% of my grade. How will this effect my grade??

Roger: Your overall grade should go up a little, but exactly how much depends on (1) how many tests you’ve taken so far, and (2) whether you have any empty categories in your grade (like a “participation” category that has no score yet).

I would like to know what I need to get on my remaining exams to get an 80% in my calculus class.

Tests
60% (5 exams total)-Lowest test grade is dropped if it is lower than my grade on the final
Already have taken 2 exams and got a 66 and a 52.
My test average is a 59. (Would like to get up to a 75, if possible)

Final
20%
Replaces a test grade if it is higher my lowest exam score and counts for 20% of my overall grade.

Homework
10%
My homework average is a 99.55%

Quizzes
10%
My quiz average is a 81.45%

Roger: Your current overall grade should be a 66.9%. How many homework assignments and quizzes do you have left? Also, try out the calculator mode labeled “I need something else”. It should be able to answer your question.

I have a 94% average in my class a took a test which is worth 25% of my grade i got an 69% on my last grade what would my average be now?

Roger: Is your “69%” already included in your “94% average”? How much of your coursework have you completed so far? Is your test worth 25% of your grade by itself? Or is it part of a “tests” category that’s altogether worth 25% of your grade?

hi roger

i have a D right now in my 5th grade math class. I have an assignment coming up that is worth 200 points... do you think it is possibly I can bring that down to an F? Thanks roger... you're the only reason why i'm still in school. :)

Roger: The exact answer depends on how many points you have total and exactly how high your “D” grade is. If you have more details, leave a followup comment!

I have a high B in my math class but I just got a 47/70 on a math test... what is my grade now?

Roger: How many tests have you taken so far? And what did you score on them? How much are your tests worth? And is each test worth an equal fraction of your “tests” category?

Well "depressed student" I can tell you from experience that I to have been in your position and classes can be hard sometimes even when you gave it your all you still get an grade your not satisfied with. You have to know that at least you have tried your best. Knowing that you didn't give it your all would have been worse. Anyways you got to know that grades aren't everything, its just a letter. It probably wouldn't even matter in a couple of years. Also you got a B which isn't bad at all... actually that's far from being bad. Overall In the moment if you are still depressed because of your grades you're going to have to keep on pushing for the A. In my opinion you're fine with the B and should enjoy life a bit more and not be depressed, but if you want the A you're going to have to do whatever is necessary (except cheating and bribing the teacher) for the A.

My overall grade is an 88 and I need my overall grade to be at LEAST a 93. What grade do I need to get on my next assignment if each assignment is weighted at 67%?

Roger: How many of those assignments have you completed so far? And what did you score on them? What are the other categories in your grade? Also, try out the calculator mode labeled “I need something else”. It should be able to answer your question.

Roger, I'm a junior in highschool and so far I received all A's but this year has not been easy for me. So far I have 2 B's even though I try my hardest, I can't manage to get an A. I was wondering if you could grant me some advice in order to make me feel better. Thanks

Roger: Sorry to hear you’re having a rough time. Normally, I’d say something like “grades don’t matter—ask any adult”. When I was in high school, I kept that adage in the back of my mind. I thought that it’d be fun to compete and worry alongside my classmates, but that ultimately grades and school itself were just a phase that would soon be over before I knew it. But the truth is that bad grades do matter (at least a little bit). They just don’t matter enough to be actually stressed about. There are plenty of worse problems to have than bad grades, and if you’re healthy/wealthy enough to be stressed about them, you should at least be a bit happy about that. Don’t let them detract from the experience.

I have taken 2 of three exams (88, 74) that count 95% of my final. I earned 3% of the other 5 through pretest. What do I need to score on the last exam to get an 81 average?

In a separate class, I have taken 2 orf three exams (88, 75) that count 97% of my final. I earned the total 3% of the remaining requirement. What do I need to score on the last exam to get an 81 average?

Roger: Your current overall grade in your first class should be a 79.5%. You’ll need to score at least a 84.3% on your last exam to raise your overall grade to an 81%. Your current overall grade in your second class should be a 82.3%. You’ll need to score at least a 78.2% on your last exam to get an 81% overall.

Dear Rodger , my current grade in Pre Alebra is 89.87% I want to get a 93% in class the only grade a have left in the quarter is a 3 point homework and 8 points for bonus . Is it possible for me to get a A?

Roger: It depends on how many points you have total. If your current overall grade (89.87%) represents at most 262 points and you score 100% on your 3 point homework assignment, then you’ll be able to raise your overall grade to a 93.0%.

I screwed up an exam that's 10 percent of my grade real bad. I got a 37/100. I have about 10 labs this semester of which I can drop one and the total is 40% of my grade. I've messed up two labs in it so far. I need at least an 85 percent in this class to get a good grade. Do you believe it is still possible?

Roger: Sure, it sounds like it’s possible to get an 85% overall. Do you have more details? (What are the other categories in your grade? How much are your exams worth? How many of them are there, and how many have you taken so far?)

I currently have a 84.7% grade. I missed a summative project that was 60% of my grade. What would my grade be if that percent was removed from my current grade?

Well roger you did quite well with the riddles except for the second one, but its fine that riddle was proven that only 5% of college students were able to get correct while 70% of kindergarden kids got it right.

heres one to redeem yourself:

Three people go into a restaurant and order a meal, the bill comes to £25. They each give £10, the waiter brings back £5 change. They each take back £1, and leave the remaining £2 for the waiter as a tip.
So, they gave £10 and got £1 back, which means they spent £9 each. OK £9 x 3= £27 + £2 (for the waiter) = £29. What happened to the missing pound ?

this one is quite easy if you think about it. ;-)

My english class has 5 catagories that are all worth 20% if my grade and they are all empty. in order to get a 90% in the class what is the lowest possible scores i could get on each one of them?

Roger: Well, there’s a four dimensional space of possibilities for the grades you could score on your 5 categories to get a 90% overall. For example, you could simply score 90% on each of your 5 categories to get a 90% overall. Does that help?

Hi I was wondering what I will need on my final to get a 78 in the class. Final is worth 36%

Exam 1 - 82 ( 20%)
Exam 2 - 76.5 ( 20%)
Exam 3 - 70 (20% )

The last 4% is quizes , still have some to take , so let's say I for 80 on that

Roger: Your current overall grade should be a 76.4%. You’ll need to score at least a 80.8% on your final to raise your overall grade to a 78%.
