The thing that I will be releasing on Feb 1st is done. I just have to test it out... okay maybe later.
Meanwhile, here are some pictures I took. Each has a single-word name. If you don’t know these words, go look em up.. cuz you should know them.

EDIT:
Mooosic HD is finished! Listen to Diary of Jane, with and without HD. You can really hear the difference.. unless you’re listening on your phone..
If you find any bugs, broken songs, etc, tell me in the comments. Thanks :)
Yeah.. those. Where they ask really stupid things because querying people using comments is stupid.
So, to celebrate, here’s a stupid poll of my own:
SO VOTE!! :)
HAve you voted yet?
DIdn’t think so... Scroll back -_-
I’m surprised at how fast I finished creating this polling system.
2 Databases, 200 lines of code, 20MB of backups...
I think it’s because of how organized everything waas.
Like, when you work for a big company and you have to finish a group project, there’s supervisors and plans and meetings and you really have to think before you do anything.
That’s my scratch paper.
It’s just one piece of line paper, and I planed out everything, from database structure to some minute details of PHP.
Making a plan doesn’t take that long, and after a while, when you’re tired of thinking, you can refer back to your plans!
I’m saying this because plans apply to school and work projects too. Seriously, don’t dive into working before you know exactly what you’re doing.
Like mr. park says, you can’t just kind of know it. "[y]ou have to know it exactly".
So.. my friend lost internet for a week because of a faulty upgrade. I mean, NO internet for a week. That’s pretty harsh.
Yeah, i know that we’re not supposed to rely on Internet and stuff to live, but come on... it’s too late for most of us.
If you’re ever bored, and your internet (connection) isn’t dead, well, you’re doing something wrong.
There’s so much crap to do on the Internet, it’s just weird. But if you’re looking for something to keep you genuinely interested, stay away from FB..
Besides flash games and manga, you can always go to Digg.com!.. which is one of the most under-underscored sites on the Internet..
In a lot of those revolution/idealism TV shows, you see that the Internet represents democracy because of the free flow of information that it fosters.
Like today, you’ll hear about breaking news of earthquakes and new technology wayy before you learn about it on TV.
This picture really has no point, but I had to break the text-marathon..
And if world-events really don’t interest you at all (wtff?) then you can always see random funny crap that people "digg".. (get the pun?)
I like Digg for the same reason I like Twitter.
It’s simple.
Seriously, there’s nothing that you haven’t heard before. Comments are, well comments. And when you Digg something, it means you dig it.. o_o
Okay, bad explanation.
But you get it right?
There’s a lot of stuff on Digg that I wish I could link to here on RogerHub, but there’s just too much.
I’ll put some really exceptional things on my Twitter (see sidebar), but otherwise, you should go check Digg like a lot.. especially if you’re bored.
(Beware, some things on Digg are NSFW)
I could put advertisements on RogerHub.
But I choose not to..
But advertising isn’t all bad.
Yes, believe it or not, you can get viruses from certain types of pop-ups and ads. (especially with Internet Explorer)
A lot of people have anti-ad add-ons for Firefox or Chrome or IE.. and yeah they work great.
But Google makes most of their money off Advertising.. and what would we do without Google?
And not just them either; radio stations, TV networks, and tons of websites are entirely dependent on ads.
Footsteps! If you can see them..
Ripples in a pond.. they kind of look like bubbles.
okay.. bye now
-roger
WHAT? you’re done reading already? Okay.. if you just skimmed through that, go back and actually read it this time. I choose simple words and phrases so that you don’t have to read so much.. don’t be lazy -_-
There was lots of rain and wind today.. but not as much as there was on monday.
(click to zoom in! if you didn’t know that already..)
Yeah, these pictures were saturated artificially.. so what?
After everything had dried off, there was a perfectly shaped puddle in this square indentation on the ground.. You can’t really tell, but there’s water in the hole here.
It would be kinda cool if we really did have a tornado here, because, well, it’s out of the ordinary.
Yeah, it’ll cause damage and stuff, but that’s all part of the experience right?
Not really.
So, if you didn’t know, there was another earthquake at Guatemala. Digg Source.
I wonder if all these earthquakes and weather troubles signifies the second coming..
Well, let’s not think that far, yet.
This picture is super blurry, but you can still tell what it’s supposed to be. Right?
To fellow bloggers:
You know, there’s a supposed "rule" that you shouldn’t name links stupid things like "click here" or "download this". It’s because search engines (ie. Google) don’t pickup on those things, and they have no idea what you’re talking about. They tend to ignore links with "go here" in them.
As I’m typing this, I’m also eating these instant noodles that I got at Asian American Expo.
Seriously, the free food-samples is more than enough reason to go.
-Roger
(Back to eating noodles. Bye!)
So, I will be releasing something on RogerHub for you on Feb1st, or whenever I get around to it.
Hey, because the final-grade calculator helped a lot of people, I’m wondering if there’s anything else that you guys would find useful..
I’m surprised that a lot of people don’t know how to calculate what they need on a final. It’s like pre-algebra proportions. Even so, it takes a while to do. Better to let your electronic slave do it for you. :)
I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. I named my airship the Lolcopter. So, every time, i fly around, it goes lolcopter this and that.. :)
So, as I was taking my APCS final, this guy that sat behind me kept making noise and talking to himself, trying to get attention. He said random things like "this is so hard" and "an epiphany!".
Seriously, nobody cares about your comments. No, they don’t think you’re cool because you can swear out loud. Yeah, everyone does wish that you could stfu.
So, the spanish final wasn’t as bad as people said it would be. Yeah, it was pretty hard, but it was reasonable... kinda similar to last year’s final.
I’ve been getting really addicted to Digg.com lately. If you click the "Top in 24 hrs" category, it’ll show you a whole bunch of new stuff that’s happening on the Internet.
Push button - Receive bacon.
This picture is really blurry, but it just shows a book entitled How to Read a Book. Kinda pointless...
So, there was a 7.0 earthquake in Haiti a few days ago. It’s a pretty big deal, I mean, even Google had it on their homepage.
But half the people I asked had no idea where Haiti even was on a world map. So, for future reference, it’s the dark green country in the middle:
It’s really sad, because it hit the very center of Haiti where all the people lived. It would be the equivalent of a 7.0 earthquake happening in NYC during rush hour.
The number and statistics of wounded and dead might not affect you at all. Normally it doesn’t, but if you lived in Haiti, and ten of the people that you knew were hurt by this huge earthquake, you would be pretty bummed out.
So, I read this article about Google’s new approach with China yesterday. When I read it, all I understood was "Google China got hacked, Google is reconsidering their approach with China". Which is very very vague.
Apparently, Google is going to stop censoring results on Google.cn. Now, if you search "Tian an men protests", information about the 1989 protests come up. (Everything was censored a few weeks ago, trust me, I tried it.)
Someone gave Google China flowers for their stance against censorship. Yeahh..
(A more recent picture, with more flowers!)
So, Wednesday, it rained for the second time in 6 months. Seriously, we need more rain. But it was pretty cool to have the weird clouds and everything.
IRL, you could see light beams coming from the gaps in the sky.
(Abstract picture of leaves and stuff.)
So, RogerHub commenting has a new feature: Private Comments!
If you type #private anywhere within your comment post, your comment will be sent to me, and me only. Nobody else will see it. So, yeah try it out :)
-rOGER
Btw, do you like my new profile picture?
Yay! I got a record high of 60 unique visitors (unique IP addresses). All thanks to my Final Grade Calculator.
So, say, I have a 91% borderline a class, and I really really need an A. My final’s worth 10%.
So, I type all my information in, and I get:
81%. Wonderful. I don’t have to study for that one...
So, you can see the calculator at rogerhub.com/final or you can click the "Final Grade Calc" in the sidebar. >>
So for me, I need a
40.5% in English (assuming 10% final)
38.43% in Chemistry
2.7% in Comp Sci. (assuming 10% final)
10.8% in Math (assuming 10% final)
And I have no idea in Spanish.. because Zelaya never prints out grade reports. (So, I’m gonna study for spanish now.)
By the way, do you guys like the Mooosic player in the cloud at the top or did you like it better in the sidebar? Because I like it at the top :)
So, if you are using Windows 7 64-bit, and you’re using Firefox (like you should be) and you’re using the Private Browsing feature, you’ve probably gotten the "Explorer has Stopped Working" message a few times before.
If you haven’t, try this:
(Only Windows 7 64-bit people!)
Open Firefox and turn on Private Browsing
Copy some text
Close Firefox completely
Right click an icon on desktop
It crashes right? Yeah. Well, I had this problem for like a month ._.
I ended up turning off Private Browsing to fix this.. which really sucks. FF says they’ll release a fix in 3.7.. Which wont come out for a while.
Hey lisa:
I can make pictures look completely retarded too
So nothing unexpected. Rap and screamo at the bottom, classical at the top, and rock in the middle. But does your SAT score choose your music or is it the other way around?
Rofl.. so where do you fall on this chart?
Yeah, so do you like my new blog layout? I was going to make it in the spring time, but I got impatient.. The mooosic player is on the cloud at the top now. It’s a lot more simple and stuff. The content area is wider (happy tim?) so you can see more.. i guess.
Without the mooosic, the sidebar kind of feels lonely.
So.. there’s this BlogSpot blog that’s dedicated to reasons why Internet Explorer sucks. It’s pretty funny :)
One of their guys wrote a song called "IE is Being Mean to Me". Don’t expect to understand any of the references in it, but it’s pretty funny nonetheless:
So.. I’m happy to say that now, RogerHub works on Internet Explorer. Except the pop-up player. That looks like crap still.
IF you’re using IE right now, do the world a favor and switch to FireFox.
My sister just told me that she knew someone that knew someone who knew a cousin of someone in Linkin Park.
So, LinkinPark > Cousin > Person > Sister.
It’s a pretty short chain.. but not really.
There are 6 guys in Linkin Park. Let’s pretend that they all have tiny families, so 4 cousins each. Those four cousins all know 300 people.. which is really not a lot.
Those 300 people all know 300 other people who are in the same category as my sister.
So, that’s 6x4x300x300 = 2160000 people.. Just over 2 million.
And that’s not all.
With permutations, you get 4C4 which is 24x2160000 = 51840000. About 51 million people. That’s like a sixth of the US. So, chances are, you’re probably included in that category too :)
But not really..
Google sketchup came out a really long time ago, but I just started using it yesterday. It’s pretty cool how you don’t have to use rulers to draw strai(gh)t lines and you can make things pop out and everything..
Yeah... check out my cool computer model.
Same location. The first one was at 6:45. The second, at 7:10. Pretty cool right? Yeah... it was even better IRL.. but it always is.
There’s too many korean songs on rogerhub... does anyone know some good Chinese songs?
Facebook fought and won against Yahoo for the #2 spot in August 2009. In just 5 years, Facebook has gathered 350M users (most of which are students under 34). Some people are speculating that Facebook may oust Google from the #1 spot in a few years.
Twitter has been gaining popularity steadily, with a sudden increase in Q2-2009. It now stands at #14. Twitter, on the other hand, has more users in the 25-44 year age range. (more adults)
The Twitter Team says:
People are eager to connect with other people and Twitter makes that simple. Twitter asks one question, "What’s happening?"
So, Twitter wants you to post short updates about what you’re doing. It’s kind of like (we)blogging, but shorter. Mini-blogging.
But what’s the point? Their 140-character limit keeps you from saying any more than "I’m eating lunch at McDonalds" or some other useless information.
So, what exactly does Facebook do? I still don’t get it.
I tried asking people that use Facebook a lot, but they don’t seem to know..
Is it communication? Well, I don’t see how using a website is more convenient than texting or calling people. If you’re looking for a longer conversation, instant messaging and video chatting are much easier to use than Facebook.
I’m not even gonna mention the games..
Maybe it’s because Facebook is very widely used and you’re sick of answering "no" to "Do you have a Facebook?". Slowly, "facebook" as a lowercase noun is worming it’s way into our dictionary.
Image sharing is also a big thing in Facebook. Not only can you look at other peoples’ pictures, but you can search for pictures that include you in them. Because you just love looking at pictures of yourself, right?
Lots of people plan events on Facebook. They say that it’s more convenient than email and IM’ing, which is probably true.
"Some people think that Facebook should only be used to make contact with people they know well or people they know would be happy to make their acquaintance online. Thankfully, those delusional souls are a tiny minority. The majority of people on Facebook make as many friend requests as possible, as though accumulating large numbers of online friends were some measure of social desirability. Hence, most of us have [friends] that we [haven’t] seen in years, [can’t] be arsed to contact otherwise, and possibly [wouldn’t] greet on the street unless eye contact was completely unavoidable."
I don’t know whether or not a large number of friends on Facebook gives you lifetime satisfaction or not, but if you’re using Facebook just to feel more confident about yourself... I don’t even know what to say.
(If this offends you, tell me and i’ll take it down.)
And what’s with the poking thing? It’s like "I’m too shy/lazy/mysterious to say anything so I’ll just poke you instead." I don’t get it..
Facebook says:
Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life.
It’s is pretty good at stalking people. For example: You meet someone on the street and find out that they’re a senior at North Hills HS (entirely fictional). With that information and their first name, you could probably find out all about their hobbies and friends.
So, Facebook is good for finding long-lost cousins (lol) and chatting with people you meet on the street. But, then again, that idea isn’t entirely unique to Facebook either.
Technical version: Both sites have openly available and well-documented (ahem) API’s (Application Programming Interface). API’s are especially important because they let programs connect with each other.
For example, you can attach Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Digg profiles to AIM. Similarly, you can send messages to AIM through GMail chat.
API’s let people create iPhone apps and websites like Meebo that can work seamlessly with the rest of the network.
But unlike Facebook, Twitter’s API is actually useful. Twitter consists of mini-blog posts that can be accessed using the Twitter API. On RogerHub, I use the Twitter API to show you my recent tweets on the sidebar. >>
Although Facebook’s API is every way as detailed and flexible as Twitter’s, making programs for Facebook just isn’t practical.
Facebook’s extremely complex site incorporates tons of Ajax and scripting that would take people months to replicate.
Dummy version:I can put my tweets from Twitter in RogerHub’s sidebar. So, what part of Facebook am I supposed to put in the sidebar? -_-
I think that there’s a Profile Badge or something like that. You can assemble your information and make a badge for your blog.
There’s also a gift-sending thing where you can send virtual gifts to your friends... It might save you the time and money that it takes to buy (or make) a real gift, but you’re also telling the recipient that you really don’t care about them.
Facebook itself is too hard to reproduce. There are a lot of alternate Instant Messaging clients like Pidgin, Trillian or Miranda. Twitter is even easier to replicate. A ton of websites can send and recieve information from Twitter (rogerhub included). But there are no Facebook-alternatives that you can use to post or manage your account. (which is one of the reasons why Facebook.com ranks so much higher than Twitter)
Yeah, so I tried Facebook. A few hours later, I opened Outlook to check my email. You can probably guess what happened.
It took me another 5 minutes to figure out how to turn off notifications.
Then, there was no "un-select all" option. Facebook doesn’t want you turning off their notifications... So, I unchecked the thirty-something check boxes using my awesome keyboard-shortcut skills (tab + space + tab + space etc...)
(Yeah...)
Both Twitter and Facebook have the "Stalk people you stalk on other networks!" thing where you can import contacts from email or Instant Messaging programs. (Done using the API’s that I explained earlier.)
That part’s pretty cool. And believe them when they say that they don’t save your passwords. They really don’t.
So, I use Twitter because it links with RogerHub pretty well.
Here’s how it goes:
I text something to 40404 and my message goes to Twitter. Twitter sends it to RogerHub, and the it shows up under the "Twitter" section of the sidebar.
Besides this point, Twitter is pretty useless with communication. There’s no practical way to have a conversation on Twitter.
But often times, Twitter can report news faster than TV. Twitter’s homepage shows what people are twittering about up to the latest minute, which is pretty cool.
So, nothing note-worthy in particular, but it’s interesting nonetheless.
As a service-combining type of website, Facebook is very convenient. But using separate services for communication, photo-sharing, blogging, and stalking is a lot easier. Of course, there are certain cases where Facebook might get your message across faster, but that doesn’t happen to me very often.
I’m writing this post because of the Facebook/Twitter phenomenon that has occured in the last two years. They’ve come onto the Worldwide Top Sites in just a few years, so they must be doing something right.
So, now that you’re done reading this, disregard my opinion and keep using Facebook/Twitter like you’ve been doing all along. Well, you were going to do that anyways. Am I right?
Your awesome host
-Roger
(I stole the picture from InterfaceLIFT. LOL)
Happy new years ~!
Yay its 2010!! I finally get another year on my blog archive.
Today, I had to go somewhere. But I forgot. I’m not going in to anymore detail than that.
But forgetting things is just so easy for me. Especially because of winter break and everything. I can’t just keep forgetting things, so I decided that I needed an agenda or notebook to keep track of things that I had to do.
I don’t mean routine things like going to church or bringing PE clothes, but special events that don’t follow a specific schedule.
I was going to go to Staples and buy one of those nice fancy planners that they always have, but instead, I just made one myself. So, I’m gonna show you how I made it.
(The final product.)
So, you’ll need
Spiral Notebook. (Composition books don’t work well for this.
Knife
Pliers
By this point, you probably already know what I’m gonna say word for word. Mainly because making a small notebook out of a big notebook only involves cutting things.
So, the black area is your target area. Cut the paper with the knife. Remember to cut away from your body and have a mat or a old book underneath so you don’t cut the table.
Once you have the three sides cut out, use the pliers to break the spirals. Twist them left and right until they snap off. Remember to leave a bit of extra spiral at each end to fold in.
Fold the extra spiral in and cut it again if you need to. Now you have a small notebook. Yay!
Lol..
So, with some post-its, a sharpie, a pen, and a calendar, you can have your very own custom-made agenda. After you’re done, go laugh at those people who wasted their money on a leather-back Staples agenda.
